Why would you rearrange your LR? Aptasia can take over your tank...you can get peppermint shrimp to eat them....or some people use Joe's Juice...or inject boiling water in them
Peppermints have worked for me

I want to arrange it cause it has been the same setup since i got it and i wanted a new look for it. Is re-arranging it a bad idea?

As long as the tank is in the construction stage, rearange to your hearts content...Once you have coral and or fish, its time to leave things alone.
The reasons, just to name a few:
  • Your hands in the tank is a bad thing, you don't want to put your hands in unless you have to.
  • Playing with he rock work could cause a slide and kill your critters.
Once corals have attached themselves to the rock, you could do damage to move the rockwork.

I'm not going to say it's a bad idea...Flower brings up some good points though...
BUT if you want to change your aquascape, that's up to you...lots of people do it....I won't because of a lot of reasons...1 big one is the corals...another is I did have a small slide once while moving some rocks, another is I'm lazy, and another is I can't reach everything myself...

If you have only fish, I say move it around if you want.
If you are bored of it, then do it. Just make sure you are extra careful and don't have any avalanches and you'll be fine.

how long can the rock be out of water with out dying.
IDK exactly.
If i have to to take the rock out, this is what I do...
Hold the rock over tank out of water. That way, if there is a fish inside, it'll hopefully jump out.
Then I swoosh it around in a bucket of tank water to clean out any detritus and junk that may be in the rock.
Then I place the rock in a another bucket w/ some tank water. That way, if there is anything inside the rock, it'll be okay and stay in water, and also, I don't have to worrry about anything dieing on the rock.
IDK if that's the best way, but that's how I do it.
