Thought Id share a couple pictures of my 55. I Just finished building the hood. I still have to build the doors for the stand. I am currently waiting for my new light setup, skimmer, and more powerheads. I'm thinking of rearranging the rocks, and adding a few more pieces.
In the last picture is some soft, purple thing that I can not figure out what it is. Any ideas?

Nice tank...definitely agree that you need more rock though, and stack it so there are caves for the fish
sorry...IDK what the fuzzy stuff is
do you have any clean up crew (CUC) ??

Thank you!
As of today only cuc are typical hitchhikers, (bristles, mini brittles, sponges) 1 blueleg hermit (hitched on some LR)
Tomorrow I plan on ordering my full cuc from SWF to include...
1 cleaner shrimp
10 cerith
10 blueleg hermits
1-2 emeralds
5 sand sifting crabs
possibly a decorator crab
some other type of snails (Nassarius)?
extra hermit shells
currently tank has 2 false percs
haven't decided on any other fish yet maybe a gobie, blenny, or a jawfish.

Also, nix the sand sifting crabs. They'll die in a few weeks.
ok, are they just unhardy?
Tank just finished cycling last week. I currently have a diatom bloom on the sand and the dead base rock. Is it too soon to put that much bioload in the tank?

The sand crabs just don't last....Itried them when they were first available...probably lasted 2 weeks, and I have heard that mentioned a lot.
I would get some cerith and nassarius...maybe 1 emerald to start...

Is it too early for a BTA for the clowns?
YES....An anemone needs a tank that is AT LEAST 6 months old....the tank must have excellent water quality, and great lighting
what lights are you getting???

Odyssea 48" deluxe black quad (54 W x 4)
High Output T-5 216 watt lighting fixture
4 - 54 Watt bulbs - (2) 12,000K daylight and (2) 03 true actinics.
4-dual LED Moonlights (8 total LED's) for night time viewing.
Im getting them off of the Bay. I have read mixed review about this setup, but i figured id give them a try.
My current setup is just manually switching between a marine glo atinic, and an unknown k white T8.

Got my light setup today. One of the contacts for a bulb was broken, so I bought a new one for it (18k) I will consider this an upgrade as the one it replaced was a 12k. The Atinics could be bluer it seems, but I won't complain, as I will soon upgrade them as well. The moonlights are very cool though.
I received my skimmer as well, seaclone 100. I have read all the pros & cons, and believe this will suit me for the time being.
Also got mu CUC from SWF.
1 cleaner shrimp
10 cerith snails
10 Nassarius snails
4 blueleg hermits
1 emerald crab
I dont think I over did it for the bio-load, opinions?
All in all im very happy with the way this tank is turning out. I have alot more work to do, I know (im pretty sure the tank is never done), but thats ok because im very addicted to this hobby. Next on my to-do list is more liverock and perhaps some polyps, or mushrooms. Ill post up a few pictures of the new critters tomorrow.
Hope you are all doing well.
Will
