It will all be decided on the field on Sunday. I feel it will be close and I give a slight nod to Dallas
I doubt it will be a double digit spread....that is left for homers where objectivity is not at the top of the list. Certainly, a poor performance by either team could spell a big spread.
And for the record, I am now impressed with Romo..but I want to see him have a good game against a good team this weekend.
Also, I'd be sweating a career 60% placekicker. he could have a 1-3 night which would be right at 60% over two games.

Yep..and like I said..TO's were the difference. We did move the ball against them and they did not shut the O down.
Shanle, Fujita, Cundiff, Copper, Gibbs, Payton...all coming in to Dallas feeling they have something to prove...hence my intangible nod to the Saints 3 points or 7.
I hope the rest of Dallas is as confident as you are....take us lightly..we are terrible...and heaven knows we are lucky to be at 8-4...probably the benefactors of some nfl welfare.

The only person that has anything to prove against Dallas is Cundiff who doesnt kick Field Goals for the Saints. Isnt he only used for Kick Offs?
You should pray that Sean Payton isnt your coach next year. He is not a NFL calibur Head Coach. He isnt even qualified to be an Offensive Cord. I blame 4 of Dallas losses last year square on his play calling and then on Parcells for letting him call the plays. 38 times last year when the cowboys were at 3rd and over 10 he called a draw from Shotgun and got stuffed 33 times.

I beleive I have heard MANY nfl players plus pupils of coaches state they look forward to playing teams that passed on them or let them go as they feel they have something to prove. Yep, Cundiff recently signed is getting balls to the goal line or in the end zone this past weekend. Deep kicks usually equals poor field position and longer drives. Only on kickoffs so nice to see some make the end zone.
Perhaps his calls came from Parcells or check offs from the QB. Also, the game plan is formulated with input from the head coach during the week based on situation and down/distance. .
I've not followed Dallas that closely in the past and I was personally not that thrilled with Payton as the selection. I'll not argue against 8-4 and a current two game lead in the division and second seed in the conference.
I am already quite pleased with the 8 wins as I felt that would be a tremendous accomplishment this year.
Also, a solid draft plus some key free agent signings which I assume all came with input from the head coach.
It does not mean the Saints will win another game or have a winning season next year.
I am pleased with the results so far. The only game I felt was blown would be the one aganst the Ravens where the Saints tried to get to "cute" in the red zone...and Payton admitted the mistake was his.
Time will tell if Payton is nfl caliber or not. I was of the same opinion when they hired him.
it could simply be a one season fluke and the team takes a tanker next year due to coaching weakness, poor talent evaluation, free agent goofs, and a poor draft.
By the way...he is no longer calling draw plays on 3rd and long at that rate...so I am not certain why that was done in Dallas...perhpas some Parcells guide or some player limitations.

We all win when a game is close an entertaining. I do see a close game...much like the one last night or the D NY game this past Sun.
A blowout on paper is not in the cards...but that is paper which sometimes does not carry to the field based on turnovers, mental lapses, foolish penalties, etc.
I even read some local hack for Dallas newspaper has the Saints in his power ratings at #6 and Dallas #7. Must be afraid of the homer tag. I think he writes for the dallas Morning News.

Wow. That is surprising Scuba. I personally feel that Dallas is first in the NFC right now.
I also agree that we all win when we are given close, competitive games.

Where is Emmett? Did he violate the league susbtance abuse program and is suspended?

Certainly he wants to join the saints are terrible rants with the rest of the homers. He probably has the game at 60-3 Dallas.

Should the season end now, Saints are the second seed based on tiebreakers...although the hacks and heads have tagged D as the team to beat in the nfc
My comment regarding a current second seed is based on fact..not some fantasy comment that is not supported in fact by record. That is specualtion that could be argued as fact...but not proven in record.
Pitt proved last year seeding means nothing if you are on a roll...so speculation sometimes proves to be fact in the end. Your specualtion that Dallas is the best in the nfc could turn out to be fact...we'll just have to see how it all plays out over the next couple months.

Some inside info for you Big D fans....
Word has come down the pike revealing more about the injuries to the Saints' stars, and it's far from the good word. It's the very, very bad word. It's four-letter word bad (not literally, of course, more in a figurative sense).
Mike Detillier, a beat writer who's been with the Saints for just as long as there's been dirt, has reported on the Saints Report radio show that Colston was not close to playing last week against the 49ers, as the team indicated. He wasn't simply out for precautionary reasons. The ankle is giving him problems. It's actually a combination of ankle sprain (although it's not a "high" ankle sprain, which is good) and an Achilles strain. I'd guess that he only comes back in the regular season if the Saints begin to falter and need to scrap for a playoff spot in Weeks 16 and 17. More likely, the team will keep him out for the rest of the regular season so that he is good-to-go for the playoffs.
Also today, WWL Radio in New Orleans reported that Will Smith, the Saints sack leader with 8.5 in 11 games, might have a small fracture. He was a sort of surprise scratch last Sunday after saying he felt like he'd play. More detailed word is that he might be out for the regular season, but might make the Carolina game on New Years Eve in Week 17.

Regarding my intangible analysis...the Saints also will bring past players and coaches that know the system, tendencies, etc of Dallas. This COULD give them some advantage. One could argue that Dallas certainly knows the tendency of payton and Gibbs plus the ex-players....but the Saints run a 4-3 base on defense...and Gibbs coached under a 3-4 scheme in Dallas last year. Also, the offense run by the Saints does not ressemble any past offense I have seen run when payton was coaching in Dallas.
Given what I am hearing from new Orleans...Horn may not play, Colston appears out, Hollis is out, Will Smith appears out. Already lost for the season are starters Roland Haper and Ernie Conwell. If none on this list plays (3 obviously will not play) ...6 out of 22 starters will miss the big game on Sunday. it looks like half the d-line will be out and possibly both starting receivers.
The Saints will have to make up for this with scheme...and possibly score a touchdown with special teams.
They CAN overcome the injuries...but their margin for error is slim to none...meaning no turnovers. A push on the turnover stat will be required and a plus 1 or 2 in favor of the Saints in that category may be needed.
It still should be a close game....as the Saints have overcome injuries this year and won games....but this many starters have not been out, assuming non on the list I have posted will play...and three of the six will not play...so we are down to three addtional.
I smell a big kick being needed by one team or the other. If it comes down to it...I wonder if the career 60% kicker will come through for Dallas? :notsure:

Like I stated...against the numebr one d in football the only thing that stopped the saints were TO's against the Ravens. If you do not get those on Sunday you will be in for a tough game.
Quit being a homer and post some verfiable facts.

Second toughest was Philly?

So funny!!!!
The ravens DESTROYED the Saints offense and as hes done a few times this year, after the game was decided by his turnovers, Brees lit up the Ravens in garbage time
The Ravens were winning 35-7 and DOMINATING the Saints until Brees racked up a ton of yards in the last 16 minutes after the game was decided. Two late tds and the yardage against prevent defense made it look like Brees had a decent game( Which he didnt!)
Stop being a Homer Scuba and admit that the Ravens HOUSED you. The Aints offense did NADA until the game was out of reach. THAT IS A VERIFIABLE FACT!!

They did shut you down and you did not move the ball against them at all until the game was decided!

When the Ravens went up 35-7 midway thru the 3rd quarter( On a WEAK Brees int, by the way), The great Aints offense was rolling with a whopping 133 yards!! Garbage yards against prevent defense because they are up 4 tds in the 2nd half isnt moving the ball effectively Scuba

p.s.- didnt you predict a big Grammatica miss last week as well?? What happened again? Oh yeah, i remember...... AUTOMATICA BABY!!!!

I'll even take an ex-Buc over Vanderjaght, lol!!!
Even missing 1 and even if he had missed the game winner, i still truly believe that it was better than Vaderpuke would have done. At most, Vandy would have made 2 of 4 vs the giants and we would have lost. I'm not thrilled with Grammatica but literally anyone is better than Vandy. He has NO heart, at least Martin showed some sack and made a huge kick. When was the last time Vandy made a HUGE pressure kick??

The Saints suffered a big blow to their defense Tuesday when they found out defensive tackle Hollis Thomas, who is having a career year, is being suspended for four games because he violated the league's steroid policy due to asthma medication he takes.

Thomas has been challenging the positive steroid test and had the support of the Saints. Thomas is a 335-pound defensive tackle who has struggled to keep his weight down and doesn't have the body that normally would be linked to steroids.
During his appeal, John Amoss, who is the Saints' team trainer and an assistant professor at the LSU Health Science Center, sent a letter to the league in support of Thomas. Amoss said Thomas has severe asthma problems and requires a high dose of inhaled steroids to breathe. According to the doctor, Thomas needs a long acting beta agonist and a short acting beta agonist to control his asthma.
During his August drug test, the defensive tackle was taking an asthma product called Advair twice a day while also using an inhaler four times a day.
"Advair contains both the steroid fluticasone and the long acting beta agonist galmeterol," wrote Amoss, who thought the possibility of a false positive might have happened.
After taking the information under consideration, the league ruled Thomas was in violation of the policy and he will be lost to the team for the remainder of the regular season.
If New Orleans makes the playoffs, Thomas would be eligible to play. He can be added to the active roster on Jan. 1, 2007, the day after the regular season ends.
Senior writer John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
What a surprise! Another cheater with an excuse! Wonder how many other players with "asthma" the Aints have? :notsure:
