Craigslist fraud....maybe????

OK I never use Craigslist, BUT have recently helped a friend look for a vehicle......I sent 3 replies to people.....and each one came back that they were in the military and had to have the vehicle shipped to me and they use Google Wallet

is this a fraud or what? I don't feel very comfortable paying for something sight unseen.....so I was wondering if anyone has come across this before?

While I don't mind looking to Craigs List, it will only be for local.

I've used Craigslist before but not with much success. Mainly because I ask for cash only and the final transaction is done face to face.

I watch Judge shows...Craigslist is the main one folks come to court over...No, do not purchase anything sight unseen, especially a big bucks item like a vehicle.

Now my brother did buy a car sight unseen on Ebay once. However, the seller was a reputable car dealer in the Chicago area. Got a great price for the car, and only had to pay $700 to ship it from the dealer to his home.

eBay has fraud protection....if it's a scam you can get your money back, not so on craigslist.

Craigslist if great if you know how to spot the scamers. Face to face cash transactions only if you are selling.

My brother bought a car off eBay. Turned out to have the wrong engine in it and wasn't rebuilt as advertised. I don't know if they had buyer protection back then. When my brother called the guy to demand his money back he had a couple friends on speaker phone with him. One is a Federal Judge and the other is a US attorney. They basically intimidated the guy into refunding the money. It's helpful to have the right friends.
