I think part of you algae problem might be coming in from the distilled it will still have the contaminants in it but at lower levels through the distilling process. and it may actually be part of whats bothering the corals too.
it couls also be a temp swing as the others said have you watched at different times of the day to see where the temp is at different times.
also do the same with PH check morning afternoon and night to see if there is a PH swing in the tank.

the bulbs are aqua sun 10K by UV lighting co.
distilled water ... why would it take 2 yrs to start having these problems ???
now the temp goes from 78.5 - 79.9 maybe 80 but the algae problem started in the winter ...

Leave lights alone...Its is Obvious cutting light period hasn't worked for the last 7 months.....Try doing LARGE water changes (LIKE 50-60%)and removing algea as much as you can..
do this for about a month and you should see a drastic change... also feed less and maintain all equipment clean.
Your 10% weekly water change is not enuf to keep up or remove enuf exceess nutrients accumulating at this point.. in other words your system is being overload with organics and decay, and thetre's not enuff removal being done. wether is through manually removal (by you) or via the uptake of organisms.
