I do a 10-15% water change weekly to keep my water clean. Every time a slack a week, by the end of the second, the water gets icky.

It doesn't get cloudy. I'm meticulous about my water clarity. So my idea of "icky" water is probably what everyone else looks like normally, LOL. If that makes sense
We're really on top of water changes and what not. Especially right now with the new tank. We're in the market for a bigger protein skimmer, just haven't decided on what we want so we've been running a skimmer that isn't big enough for the tank, so water changes are really important right now.

That works for me...IDK what you have in your tank...so why don't you tell your tank inhabitants

yes its all in sump and my bag of carbon is about 3 months old
3 months????? I run NO carbon in my 225G, my 54G and I have none in my 20G at the moment....
BUT...if you are having cloudy water issues....you need to change the carbon more often....I had a cloudy water issue in my 225G...ran carbon for 2 weeks, changing it every 3 days...it took 2 weeks for it to clear...has been crystal clear ever since....
as I asked before....what is your livestock???
