cured rock pricing

I would say $7 a pound is decent for fully cured rock. You can always call around to different stores in your area though, just to check.

It depends where you're located. Personally, I think anything over 3$/lb is a rip which is why I don't buy LR from an LFS.

if i remember correctly, my LFS has figi for 6.99/lbs. 5.99/lbs for 25 lbs or more, or 4.99/lbs for 50 lbs or more. im in atlanta.

your all super lucky! my LFS's don't have good prices on the rock... $10 is the best I have seen. and unfortunately they don't really "cater" to the nano tanks either.. there all like 10+ pound chunks that I cant even use

i would order it from either swf.com or ***********.com. they have it in 45 or 22 lb lots at *********** for 79.99 and 119.99. if you get the 45 lbs., it translates to about 2.66 per pound. the rock that i ordered from them was much better than the fiji at my lfs and also cheaper.

quick question, is $7 a lbs. a decent price for cured rock at my lfs. please help.
Yeah Archie, that's a decent price. But you have to realize that those pieces you are staring at aren't 1 pound pieces. So the rock that you really like might cost you $35,00. By online

IMHO it depends on how much rock you need overall. LFS price where you can 'cherry pick' a nice piece or two (or 10) is a good deal. If you just need lots of rock and don't mind a little time/effort to 'recure' some yourself..go with online providers like swf.com.

I live in the houston area and all the LFS here are anywhere from $3.99-$5.99
I got some really good fiji rock for $4.99 for about 50lbs

I have to move to the states
. Pricing around me is about $9-$10 a pound.
If can can find someone selling some "used" rock that is still in water you might get a better deal for cured rock.
I found LR hunting to be almost as fun as buying corals or fish....... i know iam odd

Depending on how much you need I personally wouldn't pay mor than like 3.50 lb for it. I say this because I can have it delivered to my house for that so why pay more.
Cured vs uncured. hmmmm Well if you are just setting up a tank uncured is just as good as cure, maybe even better as it help get the cycle going and build a solid bacterial garden in your tank. If your tank is cycled and you are adding rock, well then I would personally rather cure it at home to besure that it is fully cured before sticking it into my tank.
All this to say that unless you are only adding a pound or two, I would buy online. If the pieces are bigger tan what you want, well that is what they make hammers for,,,

MIne is 10 bucks at my LFS grrrrrr i can never find a deal. Just buy online bro, trust me. You can find 100 pds for 1.50 per pound which means 150pds for 100 bucks + shipping buts its still alot better then 100 for 10pds or 70 for 10pds.
