awww... I'm so glad that you started this thread and SO sorry for your loss!
What a wonderful, personable blenny you had!
Here is my beloved... a bicolor blenny that absolutely LOVES to pose for the camera, perched on his favorite coral!~ If you get too close to it or his little hole, he will nip you!~

OK, you need to tell us your equipment and techniques for shooting such clear photos! Tripod? Auto/manual focus? Digital/film?

Both. When stressed, they can quickly lose almost all color. Many of your SWF do this. But they can also gradually lighten or darken to their surroundings as protection.

Thanks LBB's take great shots they pose so well. Believe it or not, it is an old Olympus C 4000 4 meg camera!! I want to update it so bad.
I do use the Micro-crap "Picture It Premium" program to crop, sharpen etc. Shots are taken hand held on M for close focus shots.
Just take lots of shots and sometimes a few will come out pretty well! I have thosands of shots on my HD, many did not come out nearly so well.

Our LMB was one of my first two fish in this DT. It was set up in August two yars ago. For the longest time I had issues with getting him to eat anything other than what was on the glass. When it ran out many moons ago I was in fear of him starving too.
For a long time I could not get him to eat. Here was what worked for me as quoted from a post I did a while back. As follows;
I for the longest time, had issues with mine. After dropping tabs and hooking sheets to one of those little Algae sheet hangers for what seemed like ever fearing he was about to starve. Here is what seemed to eventually work for me, was hanging a sheet of algae over the from center support of my tank. As the sheet softened I took parts of the sheet and mashed them between my fingers so it would flow with the currents in the tank. It also seemed to help with the snails for distribution of food for them. In short time he started chasing and eating these bits.
Now days Benny the Blenny has a fat belly and comes up and eats pieces of almost anything right out of my hand!! Good luck with mine they become wonderful fish with some time and patience....... Warren

He's a cutie! Thanks for the consolation..
Our 2 blennies never got teritorial, except they would "growl" at the sixline when she swam by. Other than that, they only attacked when they were attacked, or thought they were being attacked - such as when the cucumber, as it came out of the rockwork and was feeling for the ground, innocently grabbed onto our LMB from behind with its tongue - our blenka turned around, "bonked" her, and swam back to his hole! It was cute. Both our blennies (bicolor and LMB) had holes only 2 inches apart - even though this is a great big 72gal tank. So much for the "territorial" behavior!

Lawnmower Blennies are herbivores, but other types are omnivores or carnivores.
At first, our LMB ate slime algae of the glass (leaving "blenny kisses") and ate the damsel's flakes (which are labeled as algae flakes but if you read the label are actually partly krill and other meat). Then I found Wardley algae discs, which he would carry away like a dog with a bone, and snack on it as it fell apart. Nori sheets were something I really had difficulty getting him to eat, he finally started right before he died. (the bicolor, on the other hand, loves nori) He had the common sense to spit out the brine shrimp and worms I fed the other fish, which are too rich for him. The one thing he wouldn't even TRY was hair algae! (that's supposed to be his main diet!)

Here's a shot of my Redlip Blenny. He doesnt seem to eat algea sheets, but he is fat enough eating algae off the rocks and pods. Cant ever seem to get slow up shots of him. He hangs out under that rock ledge usually in the shahows but for some reason he was sitting like this last night.

Any other blenny fans? Specifically, anybody got a picture of their barnacle blenny? We had one a long time ago but he died.. he was so cute. Just curious if anyone else was into them!

This is a picture of my old bicolor blenny, Goblin. I almost cried when he died, he was my favorite! I'd had him for 4 months, he was eating fine, doing great, and then I came home one night and all his color was gone and he was breathing very heavy. I couldn't catch him for my QT since he was still swimming ok and hiding in holes like in this picture.... I woke up and he was dead. My boyfriend convinced me he was just old.
Every one else is fine and our parameters are fine... I don't know what happened.

Anyway here's the picture, sorry he's a bit blurry! lol
