NO, I have done so many w/c in the past 2 weeks...IDK what else to do...I am currently making water for yet another one tomorrow...but this time I think I will do 20gallons

Well hey. Media reactors are cheap and they do an amazing job at lowering phosphates. The media for them is kinda expensive but I highly recommend getting one. It just might give you the edge to to reduce your cyanobacteria problems.

Phosban would probably be best for that...or if you want to spend more there are some from bulk reef supply that are great. I use a viaaqua. I like it but i've heard they leak. I put mine in the sump (it is a hob though). Honestly it looks pretty sturdy and leak-proof. Anyway, just shop around...I could be wrong about the leak thing. You can also make your own...it isn't a very advanced piece of equipment.

We'll see how they do. They've only been in the tank for an hour or so, but I can see white sand behind where they were

Meantime, another contributing factor is that my RO cartridge appears to have been depleted. Only 4 Mo old, but my RO/DI machine has no TDS meter on it so I was unaware. It does have a pressure gauge but as it turns out the gauge was plugged and stuck on the wide open reading so I thought it was ok...
Fixed the gauge and replaced the cartridge, so we'll see there too.
Silicon Valley water sux - we got like 6 EPA determined hazardous waste sites, a Mercury mine, and a shopping mall replete w/ food court built on top of one of the EPA sites within 5 miles of my apartment. Potential problem? IDK...

w00t!
It's almost gone:
Religious water changes (25% every other day) w/ RO/DI for three weeks (new cartridges)
Stirring the sand bed and siphoning w/ every water change
Micron filtration w/ the Magnum HOT for 4-5 hrs after water change
Cutting white light back to 6 hrs/day
Chemipure Elite, Purigen and Phosphate pads (changed pads 1/wk)
Bringing lighting back on line over the last three days. (10hrs Actinic, 9 White)
Don't know if the Halloween hermit helped, but it's cool, so who cares?
I got a tiny little patch on one of my rocks still, but other than that - white sand
