Hello all!
I have a couple questions regarding a recent small cyano outbreak in my tank.
55 gallon tank, 3 months old
Water source
Whirlpool RO
Water perimeters
Nitrate 20
Nitrite 0
Amm 0
PH 8.4
SG 1.0245
Lights
2 460 atinic t5ho
1 18k t5ho
1 14k t5ho
All 54 watts
216 total
Stock list
2 false percs
1 cleaner shrimp
1 emerald crab
7 blue leg hermits
10 nas snails
10 cerith snails
1 rogue gorilla crab
Coral
Green star polyps
yellow polyps
Flow
1 Seaclone 100 skimmer
1 koralia #1 400 gph
1 aquatech (penguin) 300gph
1 cant remember the name powerhead for surface agitation
I know my actual turnover rate is good, however there are a couple obvious dead spots in the tank (where the cyano is growing). I am ordering 2 Koralia #3 tomorrow, I should have them by Wednesday.
Until then, I would like to cut my light and feeding schedule down. I plan on feeding once ever other day. The light schedule is what i am wondering about.
What is the minimum safe level for my corals in regards to light exposure?
I am also going to do 10% weekly water changes including sucking out the visible cyano, instead of 10% every 3 weeks.
Does this sound like a good plan of attack? Is there anything that I may be missing?
Thank You!
Will
