Good but all you're doing with chemiclean is masking the problem.. If i was u, i would do a 60% waterchange... with ro/di not just ro.. Btw, hows your trates??
Don't need to go to the rivals, the info around here is as accurate as them, the only difference is, they have little more elegance, but i rather leave the elegance to the tailors...

how big of a powerhead?
The fish-catcher (sorry, fish-bagger was a bad term to use) is only about 4" cubed. I'm using the smallest Rio PH. Its a piece of junk, but it works in this application.
My mistake was not drilling enough holes to let the water out. You really need to drill like 15 1/4" holes or it overflows, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but kind of annoying.

I was sending him to MD to see a list of what people said about a certain treatment product....You certainly sound like you know the hobby well Aztec, however I do disagree a bit with you on this, I have just seen and heard from so many people that get Cyano/Red Slime in the first 6 months of a new tank, treat it, and it never comes back in a "well set up" system.
I would like to know what your nitrate level is as well Bill, those 3 Tangs in a small tank have got to be creating a lot of waste.

it slipped my mind..
ill test it now. sorry about that.
the 3 tangs are all relativly small..
is there a better filtering system i should add?
i will do a 20% wc and then again watch to see if it comes back.
whats wierd isthat i went close to 3-5 months without seeing it! then i rearranged rock so i could get my magnet clenaer aroudn the esges of the tank and it came back so bad. now after adding more sand and cleaning rock it came back but in tiny amounts..

ok i tested.. it came to 0.. i think its accurate? the test kit is kind of old.. im going to take it to the lfs and have them double check it to make sure its accurate i feel like if i have cyano it woudlnt be perfect?

Hmmm, that would be impressive...Do make sure you are following the directions on the bottle, I have known a lot of people that don't realize you have to shake the second bottle vigorously for 30 seconds before adding drops, then shake everything for a minute. At least that is with Aquarium Pharm. test kits.

if you talking about the nitrate reading 0 its very possible..All the algae in the tank is consuming it, therfore masking it and giving it a false reading..It also happens that way with Phosphate

a false reading? maybe it is. but then y would i test it"? there is a fair share of algae though..
i did what the direstions said. i shook for one min exactly.. then waited 3 mins and checks.. well actually close to 5.. but it was in front of me if it was a dark orange aka 100 then im sure i would of seen it..

They are testing the free floating amount that is in the water...Its not showing how much is being consumed by the algae

would this feed the algea? producing more? can you tell that when you have to scrape the glass clean everyday that there is a good amount of trates in the water? is that a fair conclusion?
but back to the problem.. anything i should be doing? i used the chem clean and it hasnt gone away but it hasnt been the 48 hourse yet. should i do the 20 percent wc and then redo the treatment if it doesnt go away?
thanks in advnace.

a deep sand bed will not rid you of cyanobacteria.
i kind of assumed that.. but wouldnt it help because it would keep more nutrients in your system allowing more waste to be broken donw?
