Cycling new tank

So I have ordered a lot of the equipment I'm going to be using for my new tank online. I am waiting for most of it to arrive. I was wondering if I can start cycling my tank before I add salt? Or does that screw it up some how?

If you have your filtration ready to go, go ahead and put the salwater in there

You cannot cycle a saltwater tank with fresh water.

All I have is water and substrate. I'm going to be using the cocktail shrimp method.

You need to cycle in salt water.
