I went from that, to kent, to cyclop-eeze and then back to that again starting today. I cant say for sure that it was the DT's, but my corals spread like mad when i was using it and they stopped doing it when I started using other stuff. So who knows. It might be a change in my water chemistry or something.

Hold on. Ironically enough, no joke, I just purchased it to switch back to it about 3 hours ago. I need to spot feed a few things so let me open it and let you know..............

It smell like stewed brocolli or asparagus or something. If thats what yours smells like, then it is probably normal.

Mine smells like rotten eggs!!!! What the heck!!!! I just opened mine also. Has your always smelled that way? I am really concerned...the web site says it has an odor and the LFS said it does smell. Mine definetly does not smell like broccoli, more like rotten eggs. What do ya think!!!

I think I got that stuff or maybe DTs Zooplankton, same difference, there is a label on the bottle that explains that stuff, I just started using it and my corals are looking pretty well.

Jonny have you been using this stuff a long time??? If so, has the smell ever changed. I am sorry for all the questions but I spend a crap load of money and a gang of time on my tank and I do not want any problems with it. I feel like I am polluting the tank becasue the smell. You say rotten eggs is fairly normal huh

dt's must be kept refridgerated sounds like yours wasn't for a certain length of time.
Johnnywater, I also noticed that kent and others seem to slow growth for my stuff.
Ironicly all the other brands I know of including kent don't get the refridge deal or maybe even have an experation day.
My bottle of kent is almost gone and when it is I'm going back to DT's and staying with it.
Cost more but it seems to be one of them things that you get what you pay for.

like he said it has a definite odor but it isn't supposed to smell rotten.
When I was buyin it before I'd always made sure to get the ones with the date furthest away so it would be that much longer I could keep it

that I'm not sure about but u have to shake the hell ut of that stuff before you put it in the tank all the goodies are stuck to the bottom and stick very quickly back to the bottom after each use
My guess is that it isn't going to bad for your tank necessarily but it definitely isn't going to help it any.

Yes....DT's Phytoplankton is going to smell really badly. Your suppose to keep it refrigerated AND, your suppose to shake it up about every other day. Most people will put it in the door of the refrigerator so that when the door is opened it will cause the bottle to roll around keeping the solution mixed. The smell is a form of "die off" the phytoplankton is alive, that is why you have to keep it mixed up because if the plankton settles they suffocate. I know this sounds funny but it's true. You can open the bottle and squeeze it allowing it to "breath" for a while and the smell isn't quite so bad.
