Mark is THE class act in nascar, to bad he isn't racing full time.

Teah and that was a different era. Now they have templets and stuff they are expected to folow. Now they have been told not to screw with stuff. The shocks and spring mounts they got cracked for messing with is a good example of pushing the grey areas. Nacar took the stuff and issued new rules. I think the Hendrick guys thought they were getting the same slack the 3 team used to get from Nascar.

The Terresa vs Jr. thing is a great lesson for people about the need for an explicit will. It is a commonly known fact Earnhardt set the company up for his kids to run some day. I don't think it ever occured to him that the wife wouldn't follow his wishes. I doubt he really meant for Jr to have control but it was obvious Teressa wasn't giving up control either.

You think templates are something new? And how do we know exactly how much they were told about what they could and couldn't do with the COT? As far as we know, it's just supposed to fit the templates, which the 24 and 48 cars did at Sonoma. NASCAR felt differently. Now that the rule has been better explored - thanks to the 24 and 48 - every team, and NASCAR, has a better idea of what is and isn't legal. Go back to Gordon's Jurassic Park car, the one he won the Winston with several years ago. Nothing on that car was illegal, but it demonstrated to NASCAR how easily the grey areas could be exploited to create an advantage, and they were able to tighten up their rule book.
Cheating is part of racing. No rule book is 100 percent complete, and without experimentation, no sanctioning body would ever know quite what can and can't be done.

It does boggle my mind how no one advised him and that he didn't set up a will, especially with the size of his estate and considering his profession. I think she is clearly violating his original intentions. But why would she give it all to someone who isn't her own kid. No bimbo would do that. It would be giving up her lifestyle of money fame ect.
(I really don't know her) But that is the irrational part of me talking.
I do think it is really sad. I wonder what her will says.
You know what else drives me nuts? Are dirty drivers. The 48 and the 20 are some of the meanest drivers out there and you never hear anything about it. But the busch brother are (not so much) getting singled out all the time. Fortunately montoya is here for these guys to complain about now.

Oh he had a will he basically left his entire estate to Teresa. I read (I believe at Jayski's) it hadn't been updated since the early 90's though.
At any rate I hope he keeps the number.

I have been an earnhardt fan for quite some time (both Sr. and Jr.) and will continue to be even when he makes the switch over to Hendrick. Why switch because he switches to a new team? Jr is doing what he needs to do in order to win races, and in case all the "Jr fan-Hendrick Haters" I believe some forget that Jrs Grandpa raced for Hendrick in the number 25 Bud car. I dont think that the number is all that important, but I would enjoy Jr getting to keep the 8. I believe big E would be proud of Jr's decisions as I believe it was the right one. He took a big chance, but going with Hendrick is a big key to success.
Also, calling teams cheaters because they have a fault on an inspection is not really cheating. I am by no means picking out any team, as all teams are at fault at some point. That would be like calling a Pro Football team a cheating team because someone gets called for a holding penalty. It is a penalty because they are given tolerances they have to follow, and when they are caught the penalty is enforced. It is not cheating if you ask me. Now the BB thing was cheating, and doing things to trick the officials (Knaus with the adjustable wing last year) should be heavily fined and punished. Missing a tolerance isnt really that bad, everyone makes a mistake at work and has to re-do something, thats all it is.

If Earnhardt getting nailed for having an unapproved rear wing mount wasn't warning enough that there was zero tolerance I don't know what would. That mount was an original part on thre COT, not something they modified. Using an old part could have at least been a mistake. Altering the shape of the car wasn't. They were all sent computer designs dictating the design of the bodies. Just because the templete doesn't fit over every inch of the car doesn't mean it wont be checked.

Has anyone else seen the template? It a freaking cage that fits over the car.
Welcome to the NASCAR Sprint (IROC) Series.
I believe this is going to be one of the darkest times of NASCAR.
I've been saying this for years...that there will be a downfall of NASCAR.
You heard it here.
P.S. I seriously hope I'm wrong

what templte???
the COT??? it is designed to make the sport safer at higher speeds... just like in the mid 90's when they revised the body style...

Personally I think they should go back to running factory sheetmetal and engine blocks. If you cant win in a Chevy switch to Ford.

Now that is too funny. At least I am thinking of that commercial that Jr. did about changing his number, then said he was just kidding.
