can you help me out here?
about to put a CPR hang on refugium on my 29 gal... the 12 inch one what do you suggest i put in it? can i use LS instead of miracle mud? what do you reccomend? i can get the calerpa algae that isnt sold in stores from an employee at my LFS..he has it in his tank.
i am curing some LS and LR rubble for it. what do you suggest? will this be helpful for my tank? you can see pics of it on my post last night

I'm sure you can get lots of opinions from those that have the CPR Refuge, they would probably know better.
I am of the belief that a DSB with a footprint smaller than 2 square feet will not sustain the diversity of sand infauna required for long term health of the sand bed.
I am also of the belief that Miracle Mud does a fine job of providing the nutrients for algae growth. I have no idea how having MM can be used to reduce the nutrients in your tank if it provides said nutrients
If I were to implement a CPR hangon I would put un 1/2" of very fine aragonite sand and a pile of reef rubble right in the middle. Grow more than one type of algae though.

what type of algae? i can get the "illegal" calerpa , what else should i put in.
and a small pile right in the center? and only 1/2 inch sand bed?
how high should i stack the rubble?
its curing right now.

A tall pile of rubble will do nicely as long as you include Bristleworms to eat the detritus that accumulates.
Any type of algae that grows fast and is easy to harvest. Caulerpa will work fine. I still suggest more than one type.

what other types of algae?
how do i get bristle worms in the refuig? I had a run in with on at the LFS while getting the LR rubble. it got me, i got bristles all in my fingers and had a reaction in my pinky, felt like it had broken, now i have bumps all over the fingers it got, OUCH!
should i pile it up to the top of the 12 inch cpr? or just a nice little mound?
my lfs doesnt sell bristles, hopefully there is a few in the rubble? i doubt it.
whats a nicer addition to it? snail of some sort?

hey bang guy..got a question
what do you think of me putting a little 3 gal glass aquarium in my cabinent, and using it as a refuig with LS LR rubble and algae?
how expensive would this be? How would i set it up to pump water out of the tank and back up into the tank without overflowing and what not..
would the 83 dollar CPR hangon be better? or would this be better in the long run?
how involved is it? do you know?
