Don't forget that the maintainance is going to be very expensive. If you plan on having sps or even lps corals, you are looking at an additional $125 per month on your electricity bill. If you buy your water you are looking at about $35 a month....or if you have a RO machine, replacing the membrane pretty often.
I'm a broke college student so I tend to look at these things very carefully. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but plan accordinly :)

YIPES! I better check the church's utility bills, hehe. Our water bill has gone way up (but I buy my own water from a nearby store so they can't blame that on me, hehe) but no idea about electric!.... I may need to start kicking more in for my tithe....

Okay picture #1 is your wet dry obviously, if you are planning on a Fish only tank then you can stick with it, if you are wanting to go reef then you may want to see if you can convert it into a Refugium. or sell it and build a new refugium.
The second picture, may be some type of skimmer but nothing that I have ever seen before, sorry not much help there.
The third is a DI cartridge, more than likely it is no good anymore.
The last is MH lighting, you will want to replace all the bulbs. Does it say anything on the lighting about how many watts the MH are?
What are the dimensions of the tank?
Most aquarium maintenance companies will come out and set a tank up for a fee if you feel like you are over your head.
looks like a pretty good deal you got there.

Only 180 gallons? Well, in that case, I'll pay you $175

Great deal... Make sure you do a leak test outside before you do anything with it.

The dementions are:
L 6 ft
w 2 ft
H 2 ft
that's 180 right?
I was thinking of reefing it but Im not really ready for all that right now. With the ID catridge. Do I just get another one or change the filter? Not sure. I have to check the lighting but, he did throw in the extra bulbs he had. I'll take some more pics of the actual tank tonight. Now with the DI catridge i can use tap water to fill it up right?

Those DI filters are disposable, you use them up and throw them out. If there is anything left in it then the water coming out of it will have 0 TDS ( you would have to get a TDS meter). I highly suggest you purchase a full size RO/DI unit for a tank that size.
If you are not planning on ever going reef then you really don't want MH lighting, something you could sell and buy lighting more suited for a FO tank.

One day I will reef it. Just not at the moment. Im still very new to the hobbie. Are RO unites expensive? I gota show you what im working with now. i only have 4 fish.
niger trigger
yellow psuedochromus and two yellow tails
All doing well and getting along.

Since I have not killed anything within the last few months I had planned to step in up a notch, but not this much. I spoke to a guy today from a LFS they would get me going for about 175. Is that good?

That sounds about right.
I usually charge a dollar per gallon plus parts for a tank setup.
But that is for complete setup, plumbing, electrical, putting water and LS and LR in the tank.
Find out what they are going to do for you.
