Deepest sand bed...

Whats the deepest a DSB should be? I have a 15h fuge with 6" DSB and with 3 or 4 more inches of space available. Should I be using this space? Is a 8 or 9" DSB much more beneficial then a 6"? This will also place the macro closer to the lights. Any problem with topping off fuge with dead sand?

I see no reason why a deeper bed could be a problem. Unfortunately I don't believe a DSB in anything smaller than a 29 gal is really very useful.

so there would really be no point in having a DSB in a 10-20 refugium? I want to set one up - I'm still in the research phase.....

Even for a fuge? I don't have a DSB in my tank; I was hoping the fuge would take car of that.
