Definitely my last order from SWF.com

i highly doubt swf had anything to do with your tank loss.
Wrong, I had that tank for 3 years with the same livestock and NO problem at all. So 2+2 does equal 4 right? Yea....
Anyway, EVERYTHING died and I had a tank of pure disgust, stunk like HELL. Anyway, I emptied everything, cleaned, scrubbed live rock to get the stench off, and put 40 lbs of new live sand in the tank. New filter, new heater, new everything except tank. Going to let it go through the cycle again and start over.
I will NEVER order anything else from here, their customer service SUCKS. I had a lady email me back and tell me to pack the dead up and send them back for a credit. Excuse me? Pack up all that ---- and stink my house, car, and the post office up? No way. They said they would issue a credit to my account, oh just what I need 150 dollars sitting on an account that you cannot redeem unless you order at least 80 dollars worth of ADDITIONAL merchandise. That is highway robbery. What the F%$^ am I going to do with 200 more dollars worth of fish and stuff?
Long story short, like it or not, called the CC company and they refunded my purchase price. I have ordered from here before and NEVER did they want me to ship back dead fish. That is the craziest stuff I ever heard.
Sure, would some people say they had dead fish just to get another? Maybe so, but I could have filmed my graveyard in my tank to show them.
Anyway, I will be buying from someone else in the future. Love the forums here, but never again on the fish.
For those of you who say I added too much or this and that, I think not. I have kept saltwater fish for over 12 years and never, ever had a crash like that. I know the limitations, etc.

well, dont order anything off of the internet again (swf anyway). i dont recommend doing it anyway, you should always look at your product before you buy it, (even snails and crabs, you said you've been doing sw for 12 years, you should know this). so really i wouldn't blame it on swf i would blame it on your self. its your tank, not their's. if your 100% sure it was their product that wiped your tank out, than sue them for your losses and personal damages. I would be very careful blameing people publicly (unless you can proove it), especially buisnesses, they can sue you for slander.
you shouldn't need to completely re-due your whole tank. keep the water, replace filters and scrub down your live rock, etc. let the tank sit and filter for 2 weeks than test your water and have a LFS also test it to get a second oppinion.

There isn't much likely hood that anything you put in could kill the tank overnight. Maybe stray volatge or some kind of contaminant got into the tank. A heater malfunction? Did you use some bad water? Do you have kids that may have dumped something into the tank and not told you? Bug spray, air freshiners, something in a container or on your hands? on a net? I would not blame SWF as you haven't a clue as to the cause. Lesley

Hey man sorry for your loss but, they do say you must return your dead product with the e-mail receipt for your refund. It even gives you explicit details on how to return dead live stock. read and heed:
"The Saltwaterfish.com 15 Day Guarantee
If for any reason any live fish, coral, or invertebrate you've received doesn't survive during the 15 Day Guarantee period just return it with your email receipt and we'll issue a credit (dollar amount) for that item towards your Saltwaterfish.com Online Account. Your available credit can then be viewed through the Order Status button or on the final checkout page.
Return Instructions:
It is very important that you cover the item in a generous amount of table salt in order to preserve it in the return envelope. Send the item that didn't survived in a ziplocked bag (absolutely no water) inside an envelope. Place the item into a ziplock, pour the salt, coat the item with the salt, close the ziplock and then place that into another ziplock bag and close it. Then place it in the envelope with your email receipt or a sheet of paper with your name and order number on it. If you do not follow these directions the US Postal Service may throw out your envelope due to smell and we cannot issue you a credit."
So you lost credibility on that note and any other crap you have said about swf.com. I have ordered from them for years and only lost one fish and I returned it without stinking up anything and I got my credit. It sucks this happened and I know your frustrated but I do not beleive for one minute that swf.com had anything to do with it. Good luck!!

As I said before, there is simply no disease that could wipe out everything (fish and inverts) overnight.
If your order was alive when you introduced it then we know nothing was toxic in the bags.
Something got into the tank or the biological filtration was thrown off, or the O2 was depleted, etc.
I'm really sorry for your loss, but this simply doesn't add up to being the fault of SWF.
As for the credit card; You got what you ordered, all was alive, you introduced it into your tank and it all died. You then failed to follow the very clearly defined return policy. Not sure on what grounds you are challenging the charges.

Guilty until proven innocent?
I wish he would have posted his full stock list so we could have been more helpful.

Is this the only tank you currently had? A browse through your old posts Rainbow show you have been adding fish in the last few months.
On 2-20 you posted your tank was getting overcrowded. This thread. dating
2-22, says the tank died overnight. This seems to imply that you added the new critters on 2-20, they lived through the night of 2-20, through the day of 2-21 and died overnight, resulting in you posting here on 2-22.
The fact that you lost both inverts and fish overnight rules out disease (that and the timetable). The fact that nothing was dead in the shipping rules out toxins in the bag.
I've stated before, deaths overnight make me immediately suspect O2 depletion or pH swing. Deaths 18 hours after new specimens are introduced make me suspect Ammonia.
Rainbow, don't take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to place any undue blame on you. I just hate seeing anyone have a tank crash mysteriously and am trying to help conclude what happened so you, me and others can avoid a similar crash.
I saw your threads with the pics of your tank. Clearly you were very proud of it and this is a big loss to you. Again, sorry for your loss
.

I had a heater stick once that wiped me out overnight. Cooked everything. Stank to high heaven. Bumped the heater and it kicked off.

I disagree. He was obviously upset and that's understandable. Making him more angry won't help anything.

No need to rub salt in the wound. The entire thread would have just been deleted to start if we didn't think we could give any help.

Im sorry if im wrong, but he didn't ask for any help. he blamed it on the site and its associates. he was just going off on a rant on how he blames the site for terrible customer service, return policy, and how its fish supposibly wiped out his aquarium.
IMO people like that dont need help (unless they ask), they need to get flammed on for makeing ignorant comments.
