Diatoms

The tank has been up for two weeks. Had a small amo rise,then it went back to 0.Can I vac the diatoms with out slowing down the cycling pross.
 
Did you test for nitrAtes and nitrItes?
I would leave the diatoms for now. I would not mess with it until the cycle is over. I know it looks bad, but it will all come together and be ok soon!!!

yes the diatoms are apart of the cycle, so IMO just leave your tank alone and they'll go away on there own

Yes you can. There is no need to but it's not going to hurt anything.

I personally would not worry about it. I know it looks bad, but it WILL go away once the cycle is complete. Keep track of your levels, I noticed last time I cycled a tank,the brown diatoms went away once my NO2 went to zero.
