I have a feeling its a little of both. but that much rubble is a little rediculous!
I scrubbed each peice and it took for ever. I called them and they have to have a manager or something call me back on monday. I will keep you all up to date on what they do for me. I think either take $40 off of send me two or three large peices for free.
I would be willing to pay shipping. I think its only fair.

Have to agree.. I would have been very upset if my rock looked like that.

That sounds fair to me. Actually, all of that rubble would be a fragger's dream come true! *LOL*

Dadummy, fla aquacultured is nice if you like that kind of stuff, but it is not "real" live rock. Its rocks that are thrown into the ocean and, of course, sea creatures accumulate on it. If you throw a tire in the ocean, the same thing will happen. Also, it is a lot denser and will not accommodate the microfuana that some hobbyists love to cultivate. Not trying to argue, but really just trying to point that out for anyone who reads this thread and may not know. What horror stories are associated with fiji?

Drizco, I think it is hit or miss. I have ordered their 30 lb Lalo and was shocked at how good it was. The first batch I ordered had only 2 rocks in it. A 26lb and a 3.5lb'er. There was maybe about 1/2 lb of rubble. I was so pleased I ordered another 30lb about 2 months later and another good batch of about 2 - 10lb+ and a few smaller peices. All good stuff that had 4" tunnels and caves. Of course with almost all sites, there is quite a bit of die-off due to shipping but it comes back over time. The only downside was I did not get all the diffrent colors you see in thier pics. As it has grown back there is really only the standared pinks and purples. However I have no regrets as the shapes were so unique and large. I would give them a call and complain. They have great customer service. Usually always willing to do anything to make the customer happy.
(I just did about a sexy shrimp that didnt make it past their 14 day gaurente. They offered to reship the 1 shrimp at no cost. That seemed silly to me to ship a $7 shrimp when they would also pay like $30 for shipping. They also offered free shipping on my next purchase so I took that. Anyway, point being I'm sure you can arrange a deal to benifet you for your hassel)

Thanks everyone!
I did call them to complain last night and they told me that they would pass my complaint on to someone at the liverock facility, which is closed on the weekend. They told me that I would get an answer to my complaint by Monday. I’m going to call again on Monday just to make sure they are on the ball.
I’m sure they will do something good to compensate me. Like I said above, if they were willing to ship me a couple more good pieces I would be happy. I would also be happy with like a $30 credit and free shipping on another order.
it just boils down to false advertising. if they tell you the pieces are 6"-14" with 80-90% coraline coverage. that’s what they need to come through with.
If I get into fraging the rubble would come in handy.
:hilarious

That rock looks pathetic. sorry to say, i'd ask for your money back or file a claim or something.

if you place dry rock in a tank and seed it with LR you eventaully have LR.so wouldn't the same theory apply for a rock in the ocean or bay? I have picked up plastic pots off the beach that have had coraline algae, sponges, tube worms , barnacles and ?? on it. More growth than the fiji rock at the LFS.
I bought 30lbs of florida rock, 6 large pieces, porous and lightweight. horror story to me is paying 6.00lb for base rock

Florida live rock benefits: "Fresh", cheap, lot's of hitchhikers and goodies.
Florida Live Rock negatives
: Insanely dense, lack of "mature" bio diversity, lot's of hitchhikers.
I wouldn't try to fill my tank with Florida Live Rock. I like the couple of pieces I bought, but Pacific rock looks more "natural".

****UPDATE****
I got a call from the doctors today and they are taking good care of this problem. They offered to refund half of my money or send me a 22lbs box of live rock for no charge. Since I need the extra live rock i decided to take the 22lbs box.
I will take more pictures once I get the new box, and Ill post them here. Hopefully they turn out to be nicer.
I am very pleased with thier customer service on this matter!

This place has fantastic customer service, I had an issue once with an item I purchased and they could not take care of me fast enough.....I would definitely work with them again if I were you. These things happen.

as long as this replacement shipment looks good I will definatly buy from them.
Customer service is very important, there are too many internet stores that suck with customer service.

custom sealife had the best customer service i think i ever delt with. They sent me out a brand new set one time for a 20 gallon tank and never ask for the old set back.. go figure.

I believe you got your fiji from the same place that I did... and mine was the same thing.. horrible.. luckily for me though I didnt get all that rubble you got. There wasnt a drop of coralline on any of the rocks I received.. and when I called and complained the guy was like 'yeah thats natural die off.. if you have other rock in your tank with coralline then they'll seed those rocks'. I was like 'Listen, I bought this rock cause it ALREADY had coralline on it or so I thought.. why should I have to have rock to re-seed it? You gave me crappy rock'. Though even when I complained they didnt do anything about it.
I wouldnt order a thing from them again.. and if I was you i'd let them know that you dont plan on it.
