OK...I'm sitting here typing a response to someone...and a light bulb goes off...WHERE IS MY BANDED SLEEPER BULLET???????????
This is the 225G I am talking about and it is not in there
anywhere
It was a good 5" if not 6" long.................How does something like that just disappear

I'm pretty sure if I had bad sand the tangs would be dead cause they are always picking off of it, as is the lawnmower blennie...
I have had this fish since August 2008

Anything I should check for....all water parameters are normal (LOL)

Cover on the top I'm assuming right? If not did he jump and knock the light out and land outside the tank? o_O just a thought.

=[ I'm too much of a noobie to offer any other advice, I'm sorry meow. Maybe he'll show up later / tomorrow. They dig don't they? Can't they bury themselves when scared?

I checked all its regular hiding spots....it doesn't dig under the sand....
This was one of my first fish too....that makes it worse :(

Ok, I thought I just posted, but it dissapeared. If you get 2 of the same post......oops!
Anyway, you could check for ammonia. If he died, you could get a small increase. I don't think it would last long, as your clean up crew and biological filter will probably take care of it quickly.
Sorry, if that's the case, but sometimes fish just die. There is not always a reason.
Of course, in a 225g, he could have been spooked for something and is hiding. If that is true, he may show up again in a couple of days.

Sorry, Meowy! Was he a baby when you got him? If he was already grown, you wouldn't know how old he was. I know it sucks. It seems the longer we have them, the harder it is to lose them.

How much live rock have you got in there? You have been adding a lot of fish lately, right? He still could have been startled by something and be hiding. How long has he been missing?

IDK how old he was when I got him.....I was looking back at some old pics, and he was maybe close to 3" already

I feel like a bad fishmom....but I am not sure how long.....I know for sure he was there 2 weeks ago when I took the pics....but after that

In March I lost my mandarin....and I lost all the anthias I have tried in the past few months....besides the mandarin this is the only "long timer" I have lost :(
I'm so upset I had to go make me a margarita :(

OK...this may sound cold...BUT
Diamond watchman or Golden head sleeper goby

See....teh banded bullet dropped sand on EVERYTHING......so I couldn't put a nice brain on the sand, or get a plate etc....etc...
I have a Longinf Sleeper Goby in the 54G...and it keeps the sand ..well....it doesn't drop it all over
I want a NICE GOOD sand sifter that does not make a mess

I say Go with the Diamond Watchman Goby.. They are really nice fish and that is one of them that is on my list to have in my tank when it is up and running..

I know it wasn't one of the choices, but I recommend the hi-fin aka barbershop goby. They only get about 2 inches, but you can put more than one. I'd say 2-4 in a tank your size. Of course, I should add, I have never actually seen mine dig, as I have pistol shrimp. The shrimp do all the work and the gobies just stand guard.
I imagine if there were no shrimp, the would dig their own burrows.

I was missing my Purple Fridmani Dottyback for over a week, not even when I fed the fish..he was just gone. I looked everywhere in all the spots I usually see him. Last night there he was all happy and fine...they really can hide in those rocks and if I don't happen to be looking at the tank at the right moment I miss him.
So maybe your fish will make an appearance. LOL, Do you remember the fellow who replaced a Kole tang so his kid wouldn’t know it was gone, then after a few days he noticed he had two?

Yes! I have 3 Tiger pistol shrimp! Also, reef safe. I hear they eat cleaner shrimp, but never had one to tell you it's true. I do have a CBS, and at least one peppermint! 2 plus years!
