Here is the response I got to my email.
Dear Ms. Hughes,
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.
We truly appreciate your interest in the Armed Forces Day 2006 pins. As
you may know, the two commemorative pins were released on May 1, 2006.
Each pin had 2000 manufactured. Regrettably, due to the limited edition,
they are no longer available for purchase.
We apologize for your disappointment that the United States Coast Guard
wasn't included on the pin. We value every man and woman in all branches
of our military fighting to protect our freedom. Feedback, such as
yours, is very important to us. It allows us to identify what we are
doing right, and what we can do better. You may be assured that your
observations have been shared with the appropriate areas and have been
taken seriously.
Ms. Hughes, thank you again for taking the time to share your honest and
constructive feedback. We hope to have future opportunities to
entertain you at our Resort.
Sincerely,
John Hein

Is it because of Plutos ferrel ancestory and Goofys domestication?

My dog is also confused about this. :hilarious

Yeah it may not seem like a big deal to someone who isn't in the Coast Gaurd. They should be recognized, especially since they operate under the Navy at a time of war. Actually both of my Grand Fathers fought in World War II & were in the Navy. I have a great deal of respect for any man or woman that is in the Armed Forces. Actually one of my Grandfather's ship got a bomb dropped on. He was actually to young to be in the military in the first place, but lied about his age. He was HONORABLY discharged due to mental problems from seeing so much horror & so young. I also believe he might have gotten a Purple Heart, not 100% positive, btu I remember someone in the family saying that. Gotta have respect for anyone like him or that know they could be in a position like that one day. Without people like him, no matter what branch they're in. Who knows we might wouldn't be able to have these aquariums we love & would be under the rule of Hitler's family.

the last time they where under the navy was during world war 2 since then they have fought in vietnam, Iraq and other engagements and where not under the navy Right now thier are men and wome in the coast guard in Iraq.
The legal basis for the Coast Guard is 14 U.S.C. § 1 which states: "The Coast Guard as established January 28, 1915, shall be a military service and a branch of the armed forces of the United States at all times."

we can add this to the already rediculously long laundry-list of things Disney had screwed up. Don't get me wrong; people SHOULD protest this; it IS a huge injustice to the men and women of the coast guard, but I can't exactly say I'm SUPRISED. Disney is bass-ackwards, if u catch my drift. Quasi-modo as a child-appropriate story charachter??? The little mermaid MARRIES the prince?? Pocahontas was a 48-25-36 beauty fighting for social justice???? AUGH!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying that the coast guard isn't a brach of the armed forces but they certainly aren't commonly recognized as that. I'm not sure why Disney is taking heat for this. I remember all of the Armed Forces own commercials growing up. They went "Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, what a great place, its a great place to start!". These were recruiting commercials for the Armed Forces paid for by the government and they NEVER mentioned the coast guard as part of our Armed forces. Nobody ever got upset about those, so why the big stink now? :notsure:

This is being overblown. USCG is a member of the armed forces yes, but it is the smallest branch and most overlooked by EVERYONE not just Disney. Everyone from the US Senate to the guy who pumps your gas thinks Army/Navy/AF/Marines when they think of armed forces. We are all guilty of this, and frankly I am sure the USCG is used to it by now. Its not right, but thats reality. Singling out one company for a mistake EVERYONE makes is unfair. You have a right to complain to them, but lets keep the situation in perspective folks and lets stop beating a dead horse.

Also, lets remember that the National Guard is part of it too, but do you really think they should put all 51 Guard Divisions on the pin as well?

The United States National Guard is a component of the United States Army (the Army National Guard) and the United States Air Force (the Air National Guard). They are Officialy apart of one branch all the time and not seen as a spepertate branch such as the Coast guard is. and you cant say the CG is apart of the Navy because the navy has not had any jurisdiction over the CG for 60 years. Just because people are Ignorant and occasionaly dont reconise the CG does not mean that needs to continue. How else is theis perception going to change.
