Never blame age!! We'll just say it's not something you do every day...you're bound to be a little sore.

You need to do it every weekend for about 3 months...THEN see if your still sore. If so, then...I'm afraid it's age.

Oh, the sportbikes still go to the mountains most times. I'm just thinking of doing some cross country touring which I can't do now or let's just say I won't do that now.

Im a harley guy when it comes to Cruisers. The gold wing is like the semi truck of cruisers
I just can't get into the Harleys. I don't know why but just can't. The Gold Wing is like a Lazy boy on wheels. If I'm going to buy a bike for comfort, I'm buy the most comfortable bike I can find.

ever tried a fully loaded ultra classic? You could ride that to the moon if there were a road. The radio is awesome. Plus that old classic look. The Goldwing is to carish.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I've never tried a Harley and don't really find them appealing. Again, no specific reason. But who knows. I may test ride the Gold Wing and hate it and have to look at other rides.

Wow, you guys have been busy. I forgot one important piece of information. The Ducati is for my wife, not me. The ZZR600 in the picture is hers also. If I "needed" another superbike, I'd be buying the Ducati 1098S. I sat on the streetfighter and it is sweet though. Oh, that Motard? I have considered buying it. I hear they are about as fun as a bike can get on the track.
As mentioned, the 696 is a nakid bike. Ducati just really does a bike up right, but you usually pay for that in terms of price and maintenance. While the Japanese bikes are bullet proof and high performers, think of them as the Nissan, Toyota, Honda automobiles. Ducati is the Ferrari of Motorcycles but not priced as high comparably.
It's not stopping there though I'm afraid. Believe it or not, this is my next motorcycle. A Honda 1800cc Gold Wing.

As I wake up every morning with new aches and pains from living life, I realize I need something for the long hauls. The 600+ miles of twisties I did a few weeks ago up in North Carolina made me realize I'm not 20 any more. But I will ride sportbikes as long as I can throw a leg over the seat. I just don't need to ride them in all situations as I do now.
Thats not a motorcycle, thats a couch with wheels!!

Exactly! It's a tourer, not a cruiser. Made for riding cross country and hauling all your stuff. I'm going to pick up a trailer for it also for those really long hauls. Not a trailer for the bike, a trailer to pull behind the bike. They make some cool matching trailers.

I love my Ducati, you should get the 696!!!

Hey roadie, you ever ride the smaller Ducati V-twins? If so, how do you think it would compare to the ZZR-600 which is the exact same bike as a 2002 ZX6R. I would image the v-twin torque would be comparable at the lower RMP but it would fall off at higher RPMs.

Tangman, I don't know what your financial situation is, but if you really want it, and can afford it without it being a financial strain....You only live once as far as I know.

Perfect answer.
To be honest...they are crotch rockets not Harleys. They all look the same except for the color. Spend your cash on your fish tank.
Oh, and before someone thinks I like Harleys...everyone I know who owns one spends a fortune trying to keep it running so they can only afford 1 of them.
Posting this Just to be ornery...I don't like any motercycle. It is your cash, spend it the way you like.

Harleys are great bikes. they need nothing. People like to mess with them then they break. Leave em alone and you will get 100,000 miles no problem.
I take offense to the Crotch rocket phrase. They all dont look a like. You know a busa when you see one lady!

Well, like I tell my friends, it's not a mid-life crisis. I just have the money now.

Actually all three of those bikes are significantly different in how the they ride and perform. Even the two that are the same model.

I have heard the 95% of all Harley are still on the road. The other 5% actually made it back to the house.

Sorry. I just couldn't resist.

large Sport (liter bike or above)
Super nible (R6 or similar)
Cruiser (take your pick)
Daily driver/part bike/spare/left over.
Old school (VFR,FZ,GPZ etc)
Track bike
They can switch and swap and some bikes such as the liter or the 600 can assume dual roles. Parts bike or project etc can also assume two roles so overall numbers can be cropped down but owning a stable of bikes is actually common among most riders. People that dont understand, or as mentioned think they are all the same have never ridden. No reason for defensive justification. If you ride you know how different each animal is in regards to strengths and weaknesses.
But buying a Duck??? Really? Odd choice from your taste history. Even if wife is riding it just seems like an odd fit.
As for the large cruiser. Given any thought to the ZX-14? pretty impressive and comfy too. They are all huge but the ZX really packs some heat for a cruiser.

I have not like the ZX-14 from the first time I saw it. I'll give it props for being a beast though. In regard to the Duc, she just likes it and it fits her better than any bike out there. Definitely nothing I'd buy for myself, but I could have some fun on it. It feels like a feather. Now I'd rock that Motard. I'm trying to get a test ride as I'm still not sure it has enough "umph" to work out though. What she really wants is the 1150 Monster but just too high in the seat.
I really liked the Ohlins/Brembo equiped 1098 they had. It felt just like my track bike right off the showroom floor. Those are not price too bad for what you get.
