They can switch and swap and some bikes such as the liter or the 600 can assume dual roles. Parts bike or project etc can also assume two roles so overall numbers can be cropped down but owning a stable of bikes is actually common among most riders. People that dont understand, or as mentioned think they are all the same have never ridden. No reason for defensive justification. If you ride you know how different each animal is in regards to strengths and weaknesses.
But buying a Duck??? Really? Odd choice from your taste history. Even if wife is riding it just seems like an odd fit.
As for the large cruiser. Given any thought to the ZX-14? pretty impressive and comfy too. They are all huge but the ZX really packs some heat for a cruiser.
I have not like the ZX-14 from the first time I saw it. I'll give it props for being a beast though. In regard to the Duc, she just likes it and it fits her better than any bike out there. Definitely nothing I'd buy for myself, but I could have some fun on it. It feels like a feather. Now I'd rock that Motard. I'm trying to get a test ride as I'm still not sure it has enough "umph" to work out though. What she really wants is the 1150 Monster but just too high in the seat.
I really liked the Ohlins/Brembo equiped 1098 they had. It felt just like my track bike right off the showroom floor. Those are not price too bad for what you get.
