Thanks!
I got him on Pedigree puppy chow. The vet gave me a bag of Pedigree Pro Plan Chicken & Rice for puppies as well. I was going to mix half and half for him.

What I did was pick up a small trash can with a lid, dumped in one bag of puppy and one bag of adult. mix well. As he grows you should elevate his dish so he dosent have to bend so far to eat. much better on thier legs.

I dunno, I've never been a huge fan of them. I hate their ears being done. Although I did see one this weekend that actually looked healthy. Instead of the ridiculously thin look.
I did see one of these today. That was a beautiful dog. And the size of a small horse...

my puppy is a mini doberman and german shepperd mix, if that counts. she is a great and reliable dog. she is 10 months old an is very quit. the only time i have ever heard her bark is at kites at the beach :) they really piss her off. she tags a long, and at the beach i have no problem letting her off the leash because i know she'll come right back. she's very smart too.

I will have to look up the info. We got her from a private breeder in Ga. They have one male and a couple of females. I'm not sure if they are still breeding, but I will let you know. They arent show quality, we just wanted pet. Chia hasnt had any health issues and is very sweet.
Have you ever owned a dobie????

They are the best dogs, but they take two yrs to mature. They are very big chewers.

AKC has a doggie insurance for about $21.00 a month. For just in case... I kept my insurance on our pup for 2 years to make sure his hips were Okay. Like all purebreds each type has a health issue that plagues them.
If you can afford it, it's worth every cent. It will cover even the problems that arrive if they chew or swallow something a puppy shouldn't.
My husband accidently stepped on our puppy right on his tummy. Scared us to death, I thought he would die. I never paid a penny to the vet.

I have a mini doberman and german shepard too!

Umm Rage looks very thin, you can see his rib cage!!! You should never be able to see a dogs rib cage but you should be able to palpate it underneath a thin layer of fat. Are you planning to get his ears done??? He might be too old.

You people think what you want. He's not thin or underweight by any means!!! He's perfectly healthy. He's been cleared by 2 different vets. I trust the opinion of a professional over an amateur any day.

Love Dobes. The only dog bred for the single purpose of human protection, though it is extremely hard to find a good one in this country. Don't worry about the weight, americans are just too used to seeing fat dogs, they think it is normal. By the way, try a different food, and don't listen too the vet when it come too dog food. They don't teach them anything about good nutrition in vet school. Heres a link to a food review. It is worth the money for good food. You can avoid some health issues with good food.

There are a ton of people on this board that are either Vets or Vet techs. Dont discount their opinion too lightly. He does look very skinny (and no, I'm not a vet, just someone that's had dogs since he was 3)

Your dog is skinny, too much of the ribcage petruding out, Nothing too worry about if you are feeding it properly and regularly it will fill out fine. With that being said my dog quit eating and was getting sick all the time, it took 3 trips to three different vets for the third one to finally tell me my dog had whip worm. An uncommon worm in the ground where I live. So just because someone says everything is okay doesnt mean its always true.
Food for thought.

Good luck.

I guess only in America where everything has to be super-sized and overweight. Point is he's healthy and happy! That's all that matters. Thanks to all that did have kind things to say about my new puppy.

Jeez man... Everyone's happy about your new pup. Stop being so thickheaded to think that we want your dog to be overweight. You're NOT supposed to be able to see all of a dog's ribs!

Thanks for sticking up for us people that agree his dog is slightly underweight. He just needs to be put on a good large breed puppy food and he will fatten up.
