You can try to improve the situation, but the only way to really improve the situation is show your support (or lack of) by where you choose to spend your money.

Agreed.
I buy online when I can't find it locally.
After much searching in the DFW area I finally found a couple of stores that keep their fish healthy and in reasonable tanks. I shop there.
I'll support local businesses whenever possible as long as they are enhancing our hobby.

I'm from DFW originally and go back fairly often. Tell me some good shops to visit.
Thanks,
Denise M.

Well, good to know!
Randy's Fish Warehouse in the shopping center of the Furr's cafeteria by the Northeast Mall.
Fish Paradise off of Hwy 20 in Fort Worth.
Exotic Aquatics in Plano (corner of Custer and ...)
Out of the 3, Randy's is my favorite. Owner is a great guy. He doesn't need the money, so basically the shop is just his big hobby. Just moved to the location I told you about and is steadily setting it up. Knows a lot, and makes sure his small staff do too. Always willing to help folks out. Will track down anything you need or want. Kind of a quiet guy, but once you get him talking he warms up to ya. Good prices too. Store is strictly saltwater
.
Fish Paradise is an interesting store. Owner isn't really a very friendly guy, but he can grow corals like a playground grows weeds. Some of the staff are very helpful. Very good selection of corals in all sizes. He frags A LOT and raises them up to sell.
Exotic Aquatics are helpful. Smaller store. Healthy livestock (although I've only been there a few times.. that's on the other side of the metroplex from me). Be prepared to pay Plano prices.
Like I said in other posts... I'll drive past half a dozen *****'s to buy food at these shops. Even with the cost of gasoline kicking me and my V8's rears...

I'm glad you told me about these places as I go back regularly and would like to check out recommended places to shop.
I know what you mean about Plano... I didn't shop there too often since Arlington was between Fort Worth and Irving. It seemed like Plano was not only a waste of gas but the price of everything you buy in Plano was always higher it seemed to me.
Thanks for the leads!
