DSB in a Nano?

I recently decided to try my hand at a DSB with a 10 gallon i had laying around the house unused. I went to the local walmart and purchased 50lbs of playsand. I added the sand carefully with a tube but the water clouded up anyway. After i started the powerhead i went to church and now 4 hours later the tank is still very cloudy having only cleared a small bit. Is a 10 gallon just too small to do a DSB? Maybe the playsand is just too small a grain? What size grain do you guys use for your DSB?

i like the finer grain and a 10 gallon is NOT too small for a dsb, it may take up some space, but is not too small.
It will clear, it will probably take days.

Patience, patience, and then a little more patience. That's what I've found here. I have a 35 gallon with a DSB I'm using to cure some LR I have getting ready for my 75 gallon. It's been setup since Friday and it's still not clear as of Monday morning.

The footprint of a 10 is very small. As a result you will have to be very diligent about the worms in the sandbed. You may need to target feed them to keep them alive. This poses a risk of overfeeding. A DSB in a 10 can be done but it's going to be very tricky to get the proper balance. IMO you would be better off having a shallow sand bed for filtration and doing large water changes for Nitrate control.
Just my $0.02 though your mileage may differ.
