Yeah, the lowest level should not be disturb. It releases toxic gases that end up being stored there. Top level, you are ok.

Actually if you dont have sifters, I would suggest that you gently mix the top layer once in awhile so that it does not become hard.

In that case any sand sifter would be bad, cause for most part they impact the top layer.
Well in as much as you are a teacher (I read profiles) I am sure you are right. BUT if we go by the definition of impact” to drive or press closely or firmly into something; pack in or
To fill up and congest the use of sand sifting critters will in fact keep the sand from impacting by keeping it loosely packed

This is a tough crowd. I went with the most popular definition of the word impact, I am sorry for the misunderstanding. Not sure what my profession has anything to do with it. But I could see why the number of people on this forum has decreased since the last time I have been on.

Yes there does seem to be a correlation between the number of people leaving the site and the amount of misinformation being posted.
BTW what is the post popular definition of impact as it relates to our hobby?

Hey Joe, next time you are sitting on dictionary.com, see if this defintion applies to this hobby: The effect or impression of one thing on another. Considering that you originally said, the same exact thing I said previously, but used the word DON't, it just makes sense that in the context of the conversation, it would be my application of the word.

lest go back to post #12 please
my Quote was
"exactly what you DON'T want to happen is have the top layer of sand impacted" and your response was
"In that case any sand sifter would be bad, cause for most part they impact the top layer." Again I must say that in the context of the conversation that statement is wrong or were you asking me a question ?

Joe, it was a misunderstanding, that's all, and it took off from there. Your comment about my profession is what got me to get into this spat. I feel it was unnecessary and very condescending. I do not know much about this hobby, that's why I spend much of my time here reading other people's posts. The few things that I do know, I try to share with people ASAP, cause I know it sucks to wait when you have a question, that to some, at that point, seems like the meaning of life. Almost everything I have read, and from experiance, says no CC. Personally, I love to see other contridictory claims, it makes me want to research more, and creates questions. So, please lets move on from this silly spat.
