dying snails

We bought over 10 new snails in the past 2 weeks to take care of our hairy green algae problem. They all seem to be dying. They fall off the glass and we can't get them to attach again. They eventually just die. What are we doing?
We have tested our water for ph, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite and all tested good. We have cut down on the lights from 12 hours a day to 8 to help with the algae, but that doesn't seem to work either. We only feed once a day and our fish ALWAYS eat the food.

our parameters:
ammonia: 0
nitrate:0
nitrite: 0
pH: 8.2
(good, judging by everything I've ever read on this site)
aclimation:
1/2 cup of my water about every 8-10 minutes for almost an hour.

We have the same problem with our snails. We have also checked our levels and they are fine, but cannot keep snails alive. It would be great to know why they always die.

They probably starved to death.
What kind of snails do are dying?

I have had the same problem with snails. I agree with beth that I am sure that mine were starving. It always leveled out with about 5 medium to small snails.
