Elephant Slug/Snail

so I noticed this black splotch and found out it was an elephant slug or snail.... still not sure which. Anyway, he's about two inches now and I'm wondering if he's reef safe and if he'll get any bigger. I read something about them eating polyps, but it didn't seem right. If he isn't reef safe how do I get him out without hurting him?

If it's the type that often displays a white stripe of shell down the middle of the back then it's beneficial.

We had 1 to start. Then, as time went on, we had 2, then 3, then 4. They do seem to multiply at a slow pace. The original is now almost 2 inches long. The youngest is less than 1cm. I've had no problems with them. Algae eaters all the way.
