We are going to start seeing heavy rain tomorrow afternoon and the brunt of the storm will hit about 2:30 AM on Sunday morning.

Update: It has been raining since noon and it has been steady all day. The rain is getting heavier and the winds are picking up. I just walked my dog and saw several branches knocked down. People are starting to lose power near me (my friend lives 2 miles away and just lost power). There is a tornado warning for an area 20 miles from me and they expanding the area. The worst of the storm is expected to hit between 4 and 8 am.

YIKES...get some blankets ready in case you have to get in a center room and cover yourself with them....
I'm in my den/computer room, which is where I store the air mattress (which is inflated). I didn't know hurricanes can bring tornadoes. Hmm, my bed is right next to a window. Probably would be a bad idea to sleep there tonight.
Oh, my dog refuses to use pee pee pads. She will hold it and won't go inside.

YES.....do not sleep next to a window.....better yet.....cover the window with your mattress if you can
SO there are no windows in your den???? then that is a good place to be....and stay

Yes, no windows and there is a wall and door that would serve as a barrier if the windows in the kitchen were to get damaged.

Staten Island, NY here. Same boat, first time hurricane recipient.
So I can handle if we have some leaking, or even if a window caves in. Things can be repaired or replaced. But the one thing I can honestly say I'm worried about the most is if we lose power and more poor fish have to suffer for it! I have 3 tanks running (55g SW, 20g SW Quarantine (which actually has a Coral Beauty in it right now!), and a 5g FW) and I'm going to be devastated if the power shuts down for a long time and the fish die.
About how long do you think I have before the water gets too cold or the lack of filtration/circulation takes a toll on them? What should I prepare to do in this situation? I don't have any sump or similar setups running, fyi.
And I'm in the same situation in that we have a dog that's probably gonna have to do his business in the house on some newspaper since he prob won't go outside tomorrow. He hides for dear life if there's some thunder, so I can only imagine what he'll be doing tomorrow. We're supposed to be getting hit around 8am this morning.

So we lost power at 4:15am Saturday night and got it back around 3pm Sunday afternoon. When I woke up around 7am I went to check the tanks and from the outside they still felt warmish. The thermometer showed about the same temp as it usual is, so to try and insulate it I threw some blankets on the tank. They're called afghans I think, they have lots of holes in them for ventilation. If the power was going to be out much longer than just 11 hrs I probably would've been stirring the water up to keep some circulation (I know that sounds pathetic, but it's probably the best I coulda done for them).
And no, I don't have any generators or anything since they all sold out before the storm. We already thought of the potential power outage for the fish but it was too late to get generators anyway.

I was very prepared for this storm (and now future storms). I am very grateful that the only damage that occurred near me was downed trees and some branches. I only lost power for a minute (I was making popcorn and it happened when half the bag was popped). A lot of my friends have sustained flood damage and some had to be evacuated today due to flooding. This area has seen way too much rain lately.
