Let's see. . . First it was DAOC for 3 years (lvl 50ML10 infiltrator), then EQ2 2 months(low level necro), Then WOW(lvl60T2/2.5 priest) release till Burning crusade came out, I am now playing tribal wars (online turn based browser game) and i am playing eq2 again. Fortunately eq2 is not a pvp game so i am not really hooked. Now when darkfall online comes out. Its going to be back to hard core gaming i think.

anybody have any tips for getting somebody to stop playing a game? my friends younger brother is seriously addicted to runescape. hes been playing it for 3 years, and hes turned into a completley different person. he used to play sports and stuff and was really good at baseball. hed hang out with us' being that he is only like 2 yrs younger. about 3 years ago that all changed. he is literally pale white, sits inside constantly playing that game. he was an honor student, and now he barely goes to school. he stays home to play the game. on the rare occasion that we get him to leave his room and come out with us, he gets cranky, sluggish, and headaches. its really bad. sometimes he wakes up at like 3 in the AM to play for a bit, then goes back to sleep, and wakes up early to play again.
last year, the only thing we could do was make fun of him for it. we'd try and get him to realize he was wasting his life (we calculated that he spent about 85% of his summer vacation playing the game) and that he had to stop. he would try and hide playing the game from us. hed come outside, then say he needed a drink. hed be gone for like ten mins, we'd go inside and he'd be on the computer again. its rediculous. im not really sure what to do, but he really needs to stop.

Picking on him is not going to work. Your going to drive him deeper into the game. Alot of people look at the game as a social life they have friends on there, sometimes it makes people feel like they are a part of something when they didn't feel that way before, because they may be part of a guild and that makes them feel needed. Some people are shy and aren't good at meeting people in real life but on the game its different because they can be who they want to be and perception is thrown out the window. Sometimes they are antisocial out side of the game and just generally don't like people. On the game they can ignore who they want to or even everyone if thats what they want. Thats much harder to do in real life than it is on the game. Maby some, all, or none of this is relevent to him. You will never force him off a game and you can't "make" him realize anything he has to do it on his own. My suggestion is girls it worked for me and now i don't have one and i catch myself playing games more often again. I am not nearly like i used to be with 12 hours on game 8 hours working and 2-4 hours sleep. And never less than 18hours a day on weekends and other days off. I rarely play for more than an hour or two anymore and not even every day.

Just wondering, how old is he? After I started the SW hobby, I stopped play the games I use to play, like runescape, puzzle prates and more and I don't play as much as I used to anymore.

Just to let you all know, after somehow surviving the holiday season working at Gamestop, WoW DEFINITELY has control of an insane amount of people's lives. People buy those monthly time cards like theyve been starved for days from water.
I played WoW for 2 years, and broke the addiction. After playing a ton to get to 70, and then raiding for about 5-6 hours daily, I said it was about enough. Before that was runescape as well, but only for a month or so. It just never clicked for me.
Xbox live has my gaming attention now. COD4, Halo 3, Mass Effect, loads of other games too. If anyone else plays, shoot me a PM with your gamertag! Me and another guy on here have a small COD4 clan going with some other SWF.com people.

Hey yeah me,paintballer, and some other guys have a COD4 clan going. Hey Paintballer, wish my AIM was working, but I'll be on tonight.
Yeah, I'm going to admit I'm addicted to COD4. Only problem is I can only play it on the weekends because of school and all. Well it's leaving me no time to play my other games, of which some were Christmas presents. I've played a little bit of Mass Effect, and haven't even started my other Christmas present, NBA 2K8.
Oh well, I guess that's what summer is for.

Pfft, by the time you touch NBA 2k8, NBA 2k9 is going to be out. Leave COD at one of your parents houses and "forget" it for a week. You need to play the others too haha

Why would I leave it at one of my parents house? It's the only game I constantly have with me.
