That's probably because most anyone 16 and under can't afford their own fish tanks. Not to mention that teenagers usually have other priorities.

I am not anywhere close to being 16. But I just couldn't resist...
My computer says you are on line at 4:00AM???? As for the saltwater hobby...it is so very expensive and so most young people don't have the funds to run a tank.
For those of you young folks who do, hats off to all of you! Allot of kids are into drugs and spend their money there. You are getting lessons in chemistry, marine life and the value of the buck.
I think all of you are awesome! I am looking forward to watching the posts to see your tanks.

Im 21 now, but have been in the hobby since i was 14. Looking back i have no idea how i afforded it. Everyone would trip out on why i was spending 6 dollars a pound on rocks, actually they still do :). I remember at one point i saved lunch money for a month to buy a 60 dollar queen trigger lol. i think theres still pics on this site of my queen trigger, darn i l miss that fish lol.

I'm 17 now, I started when I was 16. My aquarium was my older brother's and when he moved out guess who inherited the tank? Me. I love the hobby it's great, but it can get pretty expensive. Especially when juggling it with another expensive hobby, airsoft. But, all in all I love the hobby it's fun and entertaining.

I'm 21 and I can't even afford it. I used to always have money saved up, but since I got the tank, I'm in debt for the 1st time in my life, nothing serious, couple hundred bucks. BUT I always used to have at least a grand in the bank.
damn fish.

ha i beat all. im 14

Haha no u don't I'm 13 turning 14 in august.

But to answer the thread I recently had to tear down and sell my 180 because my mom found a job in a different city and I couldn't take it with me. So for now all of my fish are in my 55 holding tank untill I save up enough money and convince my parents to let me have a bigger tank again. What sucks is that my parents never gave me one cent towards this hobby so I am always short of money.

i went from a 3g-29g-95g wave.

answer in red!

Yes without a doubt i would say this is the most rewarding hobby. Im glad to see there is alot of younger people getting into it as it is something that follows most for life. Last year i lost my 20 year old wife as well as my grandmother to cancer, life sucks right now to say the least. One thing that makes life tolerable is the constant that has been in my life and that has been my love for keeping fish. Although she didnt like fish like most significant others because of the high price demands, i still think of her with every fish or coral purchase and how she would pretend to show interested in my tanks to appease me.
