I have seen plumbing setup to divert some flow right back into sump/fuge and the return back to DT regulated via ball valve. It could also be setup to feed a skimmer.I am i advocate of having lower flow going through my refugium to give the water more contact time but some like faster flow.I think high flow in a refugium or sump could cause problems with micro bubbles.
My issue here is why not use just one pump saving both cost and total electricity usage. My
Marlin supplies all the flow I need, using tees , valves etc. This included controllable variable flow to my tank and on my sump and fuge. If I was using an "under the tank
sump I think the dart would do everything needed.
BTW
changing flow from model to model in the Flow Biased pumps is a matter of changing the impeller. As with most Sequence pumps in any one type clasification. ( less than 30 bucks for most impellers from Reefflo)
One more thing these motors use less electricity when under load...... In other words throttled
back a bit. Good Luck with the project.
