An Emmy, Best Comedy Series...
The old ones are great. New ones are okay. They're set to DVR, and I'll watch them, for whatever that's worth....
Family Guy isnt the first. The Simpsons have one many Prime Time Emmy awards, way before Family Guy started...

While true, the Simpsons have won plenty of Emmy awards, 24, to be exact. However most of the time, Simpsons where up for "Outstanding Animated Program" or some of the BS ones like "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Sound Mixing for a Comedy Series or a Special."

This is the first time since the Flintstones in 1961 that an animated show has broke the 'comedy barrier' since Family Guy is up for Best Comedy Series.

I like Family Guy. It does push the envelope of what's acceptable on tv, but it doesn't come close to South Park. I used to love South Park until the movie came out. I went to the theater to watch it and felt dirty. South Park, on many many occasions, has gone well past the line of what should be acceptable. but I'll give them the fact that they go after everybody and everything and nothing is sacred.
as far as being nominated for best comedy series....it's not a testament to how great Family Guy is, it's a testament to how bad comedy series currently suck. There ain't exactly any Seinfelds, Andy Griffiths, or Archie Bunkers out there to run it against anymore.

I agree! I'm not real big fan of any of the animated shows that are on TV, Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park, etc...
When I was younger, LOVED the Flintstones & The Jetsons! Still do...

I like alot of Family Guy stuff. I just hate when it gets so "preachy". Seth McFarland has made fun of alot of other TV shows for being preachy, which is funny in a hyprocritical way. He had a Family Guy show where it ends with Lois saying how families shouldn't get their values from TV (true). Then the last 2 years he had 2 shows preaching about the unfairness of not letting gays marry. While I like the show, in general, I would love to ask Seth McFarland if learning values from a TV show is only good when he's the one peddling the message?
