my buddy's girlfriend is his nurse of at Cedar Sinai and she was saying that he's been having serious throat issues in the last 3 years.
Lip syncing because you don't, nor ever DID, have the talent to carry notes is one thing. But if it's the difference between seeing them live or not seeing them live at all then i'll take the lip syncing concert vs. no concert. there's a lot more in a live performance than just the actual authetic vocals carried out.

couldnt agree less... had they told us that he was having throat troubles and they/he decided to use vocal tracks thats one thing... yes there is more to shows... but being led to beleive that your hearing live vocals is not part of the show...

if you know in advance that the dude's lip syncin then it wouldn't make as good of a show, as opposed to having no idea. it's very rare that a lip sync screws up so i think they made a good call. sure 1 show (sorry it was yours) may foul up but the other 30 on the tour are smooth sailin. people lip sync all the time. especially when you hafta carry hard notes back-2-back.
even as talented as maynard is, i can guarantee he's done it once or twice...

i could care less if he's lip syncing... i went for the show! if i wanted to go to listen to the vocals, it would have been better financially for me to just sit at home and listen to the cd's. It's just fun to be in the whole atmosphere with thousands of people around you jumping and screaming the words along with the band.

Spoken like a true fangirl. I'm just glad that you didn't mention how "hott" Davey is. *gag* Sing the Sorrow was a great album. Decemberunderground is a pretty decent album. The Art of Drowning and any of their earlier work isn't to my taste at all. I would much rather listen to AFI than ever have to look at them. Just my opinion.
ruaround is exactly right- lip synching, for ANY reason, is not acceptable. I doubt that I need to remind anyone of Ashley Simpson's SNL performance. We all knew that she couldn't sing before that debacle anyway. We pay our money to see and HEAR an honest performance. If for some reason the show has to be cancelled- so be it. It beats the heck out of being deceived.

i guess it's different for everyone. I don't care about it cause i know they can sing, and i went to see it and for the atmosphere of the experience. Now if i went to an opera or something like that and THEY were lip syncing, that would piss me off cause i went for the vocals.

you pay $$$ to see and hear an awesome performance. who cares about honesty. if you wanna experience honest feedback then go to a political rally.

ummm where is the honesty in a political rally??? and wtf does that have to do with seeing a LIVE show... not pre recorded... to me it would be like going to see a professional team LIVE and then find out that a bunch of scab athletes suited up to play cuz the entire team was hurt somehow... we are told BEFORE the game who will be playing...

next to absinthe, grapa is probably the best drink out there. tastes like rocket fuel but actually gets you more HIGH than drunk. it's basically the leftover grape skins distilled over and over again until the wine loses its color and turns into grapa. it's like $17 per shot at this italian restaurant i go to.
