Well you see...I don't care
I'll look it up and get back to you I guess...
EDIT: They only lose their plumes due to starvation or stress.

what i read is they lose their crown when they are stressed to distract the predator or when they are sick or dying, this is because it takes a lot of energy to keep the crown open since its so large, so when they are sick or not getting enough food, they drop it to save energy in hopes of finding more food and growing a new one
and i figured thats why it moved at night meowzer, but still bugs the hell out of me when during the day, everything looks awesome, but i gotta wake up and track them all down

I don't get it....the one that lost its crown, plume (whatever) is in my horse tank with the lime green one...It not only grew back bigger, but looks really good....
LOL...YES I HATE THAT TOO!!! Trying to track down stuff...I could never understand all the LR reasoning cause you can nver find anything...LOL...BUT I realize it is not for me...it's for the tank inhabitants..haha

haha ya, would be cool to find and see everything in the tank, but it is cool to see stuff come out of caves when you shine a flashlight on the tank

and it might have something to do with growing, like crabs and shrimp molting, but im not certain, probably multiple reasons they drop their crown

I might just write that, 250 is nothing

Was it stressed? Maybe you're right. Maybe you're crazy (crazy cat lady is my guess
). I'll figure it out later.

I have some really good moonlights, but need the flashlight for behind rock and stuff...I try not to shine it too much cause I don't want to upset the fish...I need to get one of those red lenses everyone says to use

I don't think you are supposed to glue featherdusters

I agree though...it's hard to find the right size hole in the rock that it will fit into...and not slip out..

Did you ever just try to bury it in the sand, like a palm tree?
Mine (3) have been in the same spot for about a year now. They are fine and healthy.

NO, I never have tried that...seems to me like something would carry it off though

Not any more than pulling it out of a hole in a rock, what do you have in your tank that carries around feather dusters?

Nothing I guess

But my ray might mow it down

Just trying to picture how it is any more protected in a hole in a rock than stuffed in the sand, bad ray, put down the duster.

Seriously, my experience with dusters, they will eventually adhere to any surface after a while. In my case they kind of secure to the sand or rock given enough time. I had one that grew around an empty snail shell.

It's weird...I have 3 in my 225 and only one has stayed where I first put it...the other 2 slip out..and I have to put them back...next time one comes out...I'm going to try the sand...
The ray doesn't pick it up...I just thought she might run over it...

I've had everything from starfish, scooter blennies,to crabs and snails climb over mine with no problems.

Sounds like yours take a long time to attach.

I hope we are talking about feather dusters, not coco worms,I haven't any experience with the coco's.
