Feeding Devices

I am looking to purchase a device for feeding my corals. As of now I use a small plastic syringe for cyclopeeze and small tweezers for Mysis. I was online and saw a kent marine Nautilus Sea Squirt feeding prong. I am not sure how that will work with the Mysis, does any one have advice on feeding syringes?

i would bet my paycheck a turkey baster from the grocery store is cheaper than that sea squirt thinggy. get a turkey baster, you can feed your cyclopeez up to choped kril & silversides there big enough to feed anything as long as its choped up to fit thru the hole and hold a lot more than a syrenge

I use a 60 ml catheter syringe. Picked it up at a drugstore for about $1.25.
Works better than a turkey baster because with the plunger you can control the rate of release. (If you dont mind getting your arm a bit wet)

What if you attached some tubing to the end of the syringe? That might work really well! I'm going to try that.

Thanks guys for the help. The syringe looked pretty good. SpiderWoman, does Mysis fit through the tip

Yes. I use the same thing and you can cut the tip to the desired size.

I have allways just used a 1/8 air tubing for fish tanks and then slip it over the same size of the ridged tubing that some use for air stones in a underground filter. Then put the soft end in your mouth and suck some in the tube and put the ridged down to what ever your fidding and give a little blow.
O and keep your tounge on the end so it dosent run out. This I have found works for feeding just about everything as long as you can get it in the tube.
You can get as tricky as you want and heat the ridged stuff up and put a bend on it to reach the stuff that behind things and give one little brine shrimp to a sun coral if you want.
This is fast and easy way to feed and the best part is, you can feed alot of things in the tank and not have a ton of wasted food lost in your tank.

Why would you have to buy a syringe and then cut the tip?
My turkey baster has a large hole? Just curious. I feed frozen clam, mysis, and squid with no problem, just be sure to have enough water to irrigate with.

I could see it would have the advantage that you could make the hole smaller than a turkey baster, maybe?
I do sometimes find the turkey baster sloppy if you have something small you are trying to target feed.

I agree, sloppy yes. However, my fish usually clean up the "ones that got away". I have used a turkey baster for a long time to no ill effects on the tank, or water.

tractor supply co. is a great place to get large syringes that work awesome. They have everything from 3 cc to 60 cc. they are used for giving medicine to cattle/horse etc. I was going to try the rigid airline, but until I do its just wet arm.
