Don't yell at him and in the course of that then ask to speak with a supervisor. Believe me, he KNEW that a supervisor was going to have to get involved as soon as he realized you were angry. Problem is, did you reach the point, in their mind, of being abusive. Which gets you special treatment, and not in a good way :(
But the reality is these days a lot of people do want to sue over things like this or even less :(
I said poor kid for a reason. I felt bad after the fact...the next day. He did not deserve that, and I realize that. It was fit of passion, not exactly calculated well thought out conversation. I am not looking to sue anyone, I am asking for a little respect when it comes to someone elses property. Had the dogs been lost...a lawsuit never would have happened. I would have been in prison, before I could file my motion....that was a joke.

Is this a wooden gate or a chain link fence? If it's wooden, what exactly is the cost? Two 8" 4 X 4 posts are about $8/each at Home Depot. Two bags of Quickcrete (the red bags) are another $5/ea. A post hole digger is about $20. Unless your existing gate is completely rotted out, that can be re-used. I replaced my gate last year, even rebuilding the gate itself and new hinge hardware, for under $60. Took me about 4 hours start to finish. Owning my own business, and having two high school aged kids with their extracirricular activities, I can say free time is a luxury. But I can still do the 'honey-doos' early mornings Saturday or Sunday. It's just simple time management for me.
It's chain link. The cost, dunno, anything over 0 is over my budget at the moment. Ever have a rainy day, or here the saying..when it rains it pours...well that is where I am at for at least another month. Time management would be great...if it was my time. I could do it step at a time...little here...little there, but my three dogs do not allow for this. My work schedule is all over the map, and outside obligations have me tied up for no less than 3 weeks at the moment.

This is truly the sad part.... putting a lost dog above a human life -- even while joking (hopefully).
I would like to think in the year 2009 people think rationally but watch the news any day, any hour and I'm always proven wrong.

Oh come now...any human life?
...this conversation is getting too uptight. Good night all

Well it's supposed to be "short visits" with grandkids then I guess with periods of "thank god the kids moved out".
I like cats, I like birds, fish, coral, etc --- but I don't honestly love them like a person.

Anything over zero? OK. Sorry for the financial bind you're in right now. But if it's that bad financially right now, you may consider prioritizing your finances. For instance, temporarily shutting down an expensive money pit like a saltwater aquarium?

I thought you were going to say dog food.
Actually I have no problems if people are squeezed for a short time (not long term) on money and keep feeding their pets/hobbies.
The thing that really gets me is when people complain about not having any money and you see them in the bar drinking and smoking cigs. That is a true lack of priorities.
I think I need to order a shirt I saw awhile back that fits this thread.... "Let's Hug It Out"

If things ever got too bad to where it was a choice of me keeping my fish tank running, and keeping my home and family safe, the fish would be down at my LFS the next day looking for a new home. Shoot, I could shut my tank down for a month and have enough money to fix a fence post just on the electricity bill savings alone.

Not going to get into my finances. I will be fine thank you....it is because of prioritizing that there is no money in the equation for a gate. The 16 dollars I spent on locks will work just fine right now. I will replace the gate when I have the money planned for it, and I have time to do it.

The dog food is DEFINITELY way more expensive then my tanks, and one of my dogs has allergies...that's pricey as well. It's all budgeted in...my problem this month is my ABS system has to be fixed on my truck. I have school and volley ball fees for my step daughter, and my fiance' is flying out to Colorado for a week. This eats up the normal extra money I would spend on a gate.

What's wrong with the brakes? How old are the pads? Are you hearing noises coming from the wheels, or are you getting a vibration when you hit the brakes?

Is it possible to rebuild the gate. Most chain link pieces can be rebuild very easily and it is cheap to do so. Alot of times, most of the same components can be reused. If the main problem is that the post has moved, dig out the old ones and reset in concrete, support it where you want it to stay by strapping and in 24 hours, you have a gate that won't move! If you could take a picture of the area, and exactly where the problem lies, in addition to the post moving, I may be able to help. We fenced my whole old property (5 acres in chain link and pens) and then helped the neighbors with theirs. Some of ours was done with reused supplies. When finished you couldn't tell the old from the new. Much easier and cheaper to buy a $.10 fitting!

To be honest I am unsure. The brakes don't feel funny or make noise, but it would not surprise me if they need work. 100k on the truck and I have never done anything with the pads. What is prompting me to take it in is a warning light flashing, stating there is a fault in the system. Now what is stranger...just today I came to a stop sign, went to accelerate and there was no umph to it....I put the pedal to the floor and nothing...it just barely accelerated. Then I get on the highway, and my cruise would not work? After work on my way home...no problems at all. Got a feeling I have a glitch in my computer system. In my experience...anytime the truck goes in, my account looses 300+ dollars

Just thought I would add the following information....
You know that weather-head - the pole that leaves your house either it is above or below ground and the service line that runs to the transformer. You own it. If you want it moved or need it replaced in the future, it cost at least $600 to start. Just so you know. The connect from the transformer to you is yours.... God forbid a tree fall on it and have $500 homeowners deductible.

With the quirks you're stating, it could be a computer glitch. If your ABS/brake light is coming on, check your brake fluid. My daughter's Mercury Villager was doing the same thing, and it was because the fluid was low and the sensor in the master cylinder was going off. You may want to try and reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

Ok, I'll give that a shot. Thanks
