what kind of filter could i get away with using on a 30 gallon fowlr tank? canister? bio wheel?
i ahve a wet dry on my 44 gallon but i dont want to spend the money on another one..thanks..

with the live rock you really need a protien simmer, so I would use a sump with a protien simmer, then run a canister from the sump. Canisters need to be cleaned alot because they trap alot a nitrates.

well im gettin the hang on protien skimmer... so i dont really need a sump anymore right? protien skimmer and canister will be ok?

Skip the canister and just get a few good powerheads. With the live rock all you need is a lot of waterflow. You can use the canister to polish the water occationally with GAC.

That's great for startup. Once the system is stable you can just remove the biowheel.
