That statement is just wrong. It has nothing to do with the center and outside. its a focal plane. shoot at 2.8 or f40 it doesnt matter. if you shoot at 2.8 and the focus plane stretches from left to right it will all be in focus from left to right in that focus plane same with f40 it will just be a much larger DOF so it will seem everything is in focus. It has nothing to do with the center. The DOF doesnt just happen in the center.
There is nothing wrong with my statement and it's totally factual and true.
when your dealing with marine macro photography, notice I said marine macro, you either want the background in focus or you don't. period...and how do you control the background being in and out of focus? the lower the fstop setting the less depth of field you have, want the background more in focus then you crank up the fstop or change lens.
