You tank looks great! Good luck with the macro. I have a hard time keeping it alive. It will do great for a bit the start to die. People tell me it's because my tank is too clean. Can't wait to see the horses

Wow, looks great. Congrats on ordering your horses.
I'm still having problems with dinoflags and almost ready to tear the tank down and start over. Even the poor horses get them on them.

Thanks, T. Am I forgetting anything?
Sorry about your dino. problem. I don't know much about them, except that they can be a booger to get rid of. Hope you can find a better solution than having to tear your tank down. That sucks!

do you have a sponge filter for your qt. or are you using a hob filter. I would set the filter material in the sump so it can get some bacteria going.
Do you have your mysis bought??

Just relax and have fun.

Can't find a sponge filter locally, so, it's a hang on back. Set the tank up about a week ago. Put a large rock and a sponge that slides over the filter intake tube(had both in the DT) into QT. I will check parameters tomorrow and do water change(if needed). I also have plenty of water mixed up in case it is needed.
Also, put in a shell, so they can get used to the "feeding dish concept".
Yes, I just bought a 2 pack of mysis from lfs. They only had something called "mini mysis". I've never seen that before. Thought it might be ok for now, as the horses I am getting are only 3 or 4 months old.
Yes, I am trying to have fun and relax about it. Don't know why I am so nervous. Maybe it's all the recent "bad" threads about seahorses.
Still need to pick up a couple more hitches for the QT. Will go to the store tomorrow. After that, I should be set and ready for the seahorse adventure!!

pick up some amiquil too. Just in case of ammonia.
The mini's should be fine for them to start. Do you have a brineshrimp net to rinse them in?? Get one to use only on the new horses. no mixing equipment unless you sterilize it.
Cant wait to see pictures.

The amiguil, I've got. I will try to get an extra brine shrimp net and label it for Seahorse only. I am bad about mixing equipment, so that is very good advice. Thanks!

Also, changed the DT a little and added a couple of gorgs (including my first non-photo)

Now for the bad news. One of the horses isn't doing so great. While the other horses were hitching, hunting and snicking, this one was just laying on the bottom and gilling pretty hard.
I called the breeder, she said "Not good". She advised me to put an airstone near him and try to nudge him up to a hitch.
Well, I adde the airstone and nudged him, but only succeded in freaking him out. He swam around the tank and went right back to where he started.
The addition of the airstone seems to have helped a little, he isn't laying flat anymore.
Also, I find it very interesting that the other horses seem to be concerned and are around him. Maybe things will be better in the morning. I hope so.
The breeder also stated that sometimes there will be one that for some reason just does't make the trip. Maybe this one will.
Any other suggestion? Or should I just leave him be for now?
First pic before airstone, second pic after.

I would do what Beth suggests, and just turn the lights out so they can rest. I am sure she will make it right if it dosent make it, Sorry to hear one isnt doing so well.

Yea, that's why I called Beth first. He did get up and swim around(not well) after I added the airstone, but it seems to have exhausted him and now he is just laying there again.
I do hope he makes it, but am not worried about Beth making it right. She seems very nice and helpful.
I am still very pleased about the others. They seem very healthy. I can't wait till I can move them to the display tank!!

Have you tried to feed them mysis? Good luck, I like the yellow
Yes, I fed them twice, then did a 2g water change(just in case) The 3 were actively hunting and snicking. Very cool!
Any advice on the feeding dish? If I just put the food in there, will they figure it out?

I ordered the (cheaper) blacks and browns. She said she would try to give me a variety, but I never expected to get one like that. Beautiful!
Think she snuck in one of the more expensive ones??

Thanks and great news. My little struggler is upright today. Not moving too much, but upright. Trying to feed them now. Will update later!
