Finger leather coral question.

Hey guys, it seems my leather coral might be dieing.. I think it is anyway, but I heard they also molt? This is what it looked like a week ago:

Now a week later it looks like this:

Makes me slightly nervous. I know I need a calcium tester, but haven't had the time or money to go pick one up. My zoas seem to slowly be coming back, so I'm assuming Iodine and Calcium are in check. The tank just got moved over from a 30g and has been up and running about a week now.

They don't molt...they shed....it does look a little unhappy though

What kind of flow do you have on it....they need a moderate flow to help them with their shedding....
How are your other water parameters? I am asking because you said your zoas are coming back.....coming back from what????

I had that nice green 30g tank before. They all closed and looked like they were dieing. Nitrate is 0 PH is 8.5 I can't test calcium or anything else because I haven't been able to get testers yet.
The coral is sitting about 7 inches from my power head, and not directly on it, but when it was nice and open, the water flow moved its fingers so it seems like it's getting plenty water movement.
Is there a possibility my daytime lights would make it shrivel up like that? Having them on for 4 hours or so too much? I don't think I'm very good at this SW thing >.>

My daytime white 10000k bulbs just turned off, and the actinics are the only ones running, and it's starting to perk itself up a little bit.. idk if that means anything or not.

I don't see why the lights would be bothering it...so I doubt that's it
Maybe something irritated it....I have a leather tree, and if you make it mad it shrivels
I think yours may be getting ready to shed though...and the only reason I say that is cause of the coloring
When my toadstool is getting ready to shed its polyps do not come out, and it darkens up some

Thank you meow =] I'll monitor it for a couple more days, and if it doesn't pop back open, I'll worry some more. =P

Well, if "he" is shedding and it takes that long then I won't worry too much until roughly next wednesday. If he still looks like that next week, then I'll be back here bothering everybody worried about it =P I troll the forums, I just don't know enough to help anybody yet. Everybody here is polite, and helpful and adding to my knowledge ^^. Thank you again Meow, will keep an eye on it and post anything if it does something strange.

Your water looks "murky" in the last picture, is it just the picture or has the water clarity been effected?

is this a new tank? the leather dosnt look good. why is the water so murky? u dont need a calcium test. with proper water change, its more than enough in ur situation. is there enough flow? a full tank shot would help since it gv us more details. what kind of lighting is it? power compact?

I didn't notice the murky too much until you guys just said something.. I'll have to clean the front glass today, I know I got some brown algae buildup on the front glass that I noticed last night, and I'm going to do a water change today. The tank was a 30g setup, but moved it to a 20g and has been running for I wanna say about a week. I'm running an aquaclear filter with chemipure and a remora protein skimmer in the tank. Not to sure if the water looks murky because it might be dirty with the algae and slat creep, or if I'm getting water problems again. Ha, now I gotta go try and get my water clear. I think I'm going to purchase a master test kit today, since I just realised I'm missing calcium, alkalinity testers. Hopefully I can figure something out.

Yeah the droopy one looks bad...this not as bad.....just not opening
I'm getting confused with your 2 threads...LOL....
How much water are you changing today? How long do you let it mix?

Was trying to keep my equipment thread and coral thread seperated =P but they kinda go together. I changed about 5g today, on a 20g tank, so about 25%.
