Get Limbaugh, Hannity, or those other right-wing nuts to go online and TV and tell the country Obama is going to take away everyone's guns, and gun fanatics run like wildfire to their local gun shop and buy every weapon and piece of ammo off the shelves. The only thing I've ever read Obama talk about since his campaign, was POSSIBLY bringing back the '94 Assault Weapons Ban. He has NEVER stated he would restrict Americans from owning or purchasing personal firearms. NEVER. You right-wingers did it to yourselves.

It restricts the ownership of specific assault-type weapons. We've had this argument already. Even some of the weapons they have on the list (i.e. AR-15) could still be purchased even if that ban was brought back. Go read the '94 ban and you'll see what I'm talking about.
The problem is the anti-Obama'ers think it'll lead to banning any and all weapons, which anyone with a brain would know that could never happen. The NRA is too large and has too many politicians in their pockets for that to ever happen.

I would blame the ammo run on Obama's lies concerning his support on an all out ban on any semi auto firearms and the sale and possession of all hand guns. I dropped just over a grand on bullets before the price jump. Should have bought up AK's too, could have made a mint.
If the NRA is the all powerful entity the anti-gunners claim how do you explain the 94 ban, Brady bill, no law banning frivolous lawsuits against manufacturers etc? I think we all learned the lesson of inaction in 94.
Obama is part of a culture that has an irrational fear of firearms. "Assault" weapons are used illegally at a much lower rate than other firearms. Because they look more dangerous than other models they fear them.

I beg to differ, his voting record speaks volumes. He has voted for the restriction of ownership every chance he's had. He's also in favor of bringing back the AWB which would, in fact, restrict purchasing of these types of weapons. He's also (indirectly) touched on the subject in potential treaties

This is something I would agree with you on though. The industry has screwed themselves to a large extent. The irrational belief that you'd better buy it now before O bans them has made a huge impact on things. This, coupled with military contracts by ammo mfrs and hoarding by gun owners, has caused much of the issue. False rumors do run rampant in the industry.

Gentlemen,
I am an 11B currently assigned at Fort Campbell. I live off post, with my firearms (which I don't bring on post for any reason). A very frightening thing happened at work yesterday. I was ordered to fill out a list containing my firearm information. This included make, model, caliber, and serial number of all firearms I currently posses. In addition, I was also required to list registration information, location of all weapons individually, and information regarding any CCW permits I posses. If you are like me, then the people you work with know you have firearms. So I had to list at least some. I tried to talk to my 1sg (who is normally approachable through proper channels) to find out what this is for, and I was basically told, "I don't give a ! &@%, just put your info on the form." I don't know how high this goes, but I am hearing that this is going on in other units at Fort Campbell as well. It just seems a little coincidental to me that within 90 days: the most anti-firearm President in history is inaugurated, some of the nastiest anti-firearm laws are put on the table in Washington, and then the Army comes around wanting what amounts to a registration on all firearms, even if they are off post, and doesn't provide any reason or purpose as to why. I fear something really nasty is blowing in the wind here. I have been in almost 8 years, and never have any of my units asked for this information. If any of you out there have any info as to what all this crap is about please chime in. Otherwise consider yourself warned. I have already posted this on every other firearm forum I am a member of to get the word out.
