First cars?

Here's my first car; 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora. Got it at 17 when I started my first internship with A.G. Edwards (now Wachovia Securities). I thought I was big time stuff back then. 250hp V8, heated leather seats, sunroof, onboard computer, car had everything, most importantly a roomy rear seat
.
I did a fair amount of stuff to her, wheels, tint, exhaust, and a ridiculous sound system (2000 watts rms).

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. March 2007, coming back from the grocery store, a bag fell off the passenger seat. I look down to pick it up, and CRAP! stopped cars in front of me. I swerved to the right, the ditch pulled the car down, I launched over the driveway and through
a telephone pole. IMHO, the only reason I'm still here is because of the car. If I was in a tiny tin econobox, I have doubts I would have walked away with only a sore neck. I had the car for 5 years, and had planned to keep the car forever. She was flawless and ran perfect. I could balance a nickel on the engine cover she ran so smooth.

My first car my parents bought me last year for my birthday when i turned 17. It was a 2006 Honda Civic. I love it, no wrecks so far besides backing into our trashcan *fingers crossed*
I turn 18 saturday and will have had it for one year exactly!

my first car was a faithful old 1990 Nissan Stanza. His name was Toby and he took me everywhere - a stick shift, too, no less. ....with no A/C.

I put sweet zebra-print seat covers in it, a chihuaha bobble head on the dash, brand spankin' new hawt cd player/radio ... and the year I went to study abroad, my folks donated the thing to a local charity. Great. I mean, awesome they donated it, but they coulda TOLD me.... I would really have liked to at least gotten my fantastically tacky seat covers outta there first.

:dies over the beautiful white Impala: ...:then inhales:
The first car I drove was a rust colored (not rusty) 1968 Firebird. It. Was. Disco. Baby. All of a sudden people new me in high school. This was in '91, '92. So it was reaally cool.
"Who's that chick driving that cool.... IT'S MELANIE?!?!"
How I came to be the blessed individual to pilot this beautiful piece of machinery is a story in itself. It was not mine. I was entrusted with it's care by a lunatic.

No seriously my mom's boyfriend at the time was fixing it up. And I guess he was hoping to get in good with the troubled daughter of his new girlfriend. I was such a jerk to him. And he was really nice to me.
Oh well, silly teenagers...no offense.
But it sucked cause I could only drive it to school and work. That's it. No one was allowed to ride with me. How fun is that?
My first actual car was a 1984 Mercury. Big ol' white boat. My dad gave it to me and he was a heavy smoker. I was not. And he was not known for....uh... taking care of things. I don't think the oil had been changed in 5 years. The transmission was shot, it kept slipping out of overdrive on the highway. I sunk 400 smokes in that thing and it STILL slipped out of gear.
Drove that till I got married. Seriously. I remember a tool I never left home with was a crow bar, so I could beat the battery if it died. Not cause I was angry but cause that was the only way it would start!

...but when I buy my own car I'll have the desire to take better care of it knowing that I earned it rather than was given it as with anything else.
It is very true. You are very careful while driving if you had to work hard for that car. My first car was not the best but man did I care for it. I aways made sure it was spotless, put high grade fuel into it, used conditioning fluids, high mileage oil only (the miles were not even that high on it), etc.

Yep, well sorta. The bumper is just a shroud like on 95% of cars, so it just formed back, but the radiator was wrapped around the engine block, the radiator/core support was knocked in, the front subframe was knocked in, and there was a dent in the roof after the pole donked off it. Not to mention both airbags went off, so she was just too expensive for the insurance company to repair. I was going to buy her back, but State Farm no longer did buybacks.
She was such a fantastic car and I still miss her.
When we towed her home from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale, and when the tow truck driver came to pick her after she was claimed as totaled, she fired up and drove onto the trailer/truck each time. How impressive...

My first car was a 1996 Mazda 626. My mom decided that she wanted a new truck so I was given this car. I thought I was super cool driving a fully loaded car at the age of 16. I really did not take care of it, I drove that thing into the ground. My friends and I managed to break the Sunroof (someone always had their head sticking out of it) there were tons of dents and friends thought it would be funny to egg my car so the paint was messed up. lots of mechanical issues and then finally it wouldn't pass smog because the ECU was bad. It also had a lot of cigarette burns and about 40,000 extra miles.
