In Oklahoma a person can legally start working at age 14 with limited lines of work and extremely limited hours. Child Labor Laws vary state by state, but it is awesome your seeking employment. I hired on with my company at age 16 and never left. I now manage around 450 people, so you never know how things turn out.
Just remember your work impacts others lives for the positive or negative. Work ethic cannot be turned on like a light bulb, you have it or you don't. Develop it now, and your work ethic will be the driving force to your success in any line of employment in the future.
I had an employee who told me a long time ago this quote. "You can always tell how good of an employee you have based on how good of a job they do. Not at something they like, but instead something they do not like."

I think I have good work ethic IMO especially because the job seemed like it might be fun, and I work for tips

AHHH
I hope its not bad. I think were going on a disney cruise around july 16th, but now i can stay with my family there a week before and after.
I couldnt imagine a life without beaches! I guess because I live on long Island I take it for granted haha

A kid I went to high school with had a gig in Newport Beach Ca cleaning boats for people but he did it as his own business. I suspect the people who own the docks and slips are getting a piece of the action now days so you might not be allowed to do that but it might be worth a shot. Cleaning Seagull crap off the top side isn't a glorious job but this guy earned enough to buy a pretty nice car summer before senior year.

Yea the dock is is pretty much owned by them. It's a good idea though LOL.
It wolud be more personal with the customer and more docking than cleaning I think too.

Now that I think of it my brother used to have a sail boat docked in Dana Point and later Newport. When he was in Dana point a kid offered to wash the boat of a guy in the slip next to his for free if he would allow him to hang on the dock as a guest and take him sailing. The kid was using that as a way to get business. I only remember about that cause my brother was bummed that the kid didn't hit him first. He had a 40 foot boat with a lot of wood. It was a pain to clean. I got roped into it once. Dam Seagulls.
If you know anyone with a boat you might try that or at least offer to wash it dirt cheap and hope for reco's from the owner.
