its not fully wet its only midly damp . the bag says caribsea - caribban live sand .preserves 1000x more living bacteria then other methods

the only thing i see wrong here is that you should of added the sand to water not the other way around, it help stir everthing up and lets bacteria spread around as you go, i would suggest stirring the sand after you fill it up, but that my opinion and to each his own.

i actually found a few very small shells in the sand.im pretty excited about it. its 3/4 filled with water ... temp and sality are looking right on. the water is really cloudy so im waiting for the filter to do its thing. then im going to watch everything for a few days then cycle it . do i want to run my protein skimmer durring my cycle???

You can but don't truely need to. Some will argue not running it will allow more bacteria, some will argue if you don't you'll end up with a film on top of your water. I ran mine, I find it allows you to get aquianted with the skimmer and learn its ins and outs. It also allows time for your skimmer to hits its stride before you load up the tank with stock.

The rockwork looks nice, though I personally would have gone with a black or blue background.

well i went and got some raw shrimp. i finially got the tank filled up. im going to wait till the water clears up and drop it in. did my water tests ph was 7.8 so i added a buffer to get it to 8.3. nitrate 0ppm nitrite 0ppm and ammonia 0ppm. now do i leave it in for the whole cycle? or just wait for the ammonia to peek ??

Wait for the ammonia to peak to 1.0ppm if it goes any higher do a water change so that the high levels wont kill anything beneficial in your tank.
