This is very confusing!
people are arguing over the fish and saying the same thing, some people say yes, some people say no, and some people say any type of goby. If i could i would get a fish in there i would get a clown goby so lets talk about if i can get a clown goby in there or not.

that's a very small amount of water. if something goes bad in the tank for sure itll wipe out your livestock. what about evaporation?

The safe answer is no. Don't put a fish, even a clown goby, in a 3 gallon tank. It'll probably live for a while, but the chances of something going wrong and killing the fish prematurely are very high. This risk is almost a certainty for someone who is new to the hobby.
If you do get a clown goby pay attention to the species. One or two of them get considerably larger than the others. I believe the one commonly referred to as a Citron Clown Goby grows to nearly twice the size of the others, but I could be confusing it with one of the others.

If you keep asking the question I'm sure you'll get the answer you want. The fish with the best chance would be a Neon Goby but in my opinion 3 gallons is too small to keep a saltwater fish in long term.

In my experience Clown Gobies don't tolerate temperature changes well and a 3 gallon tank is going to have big temperature fluctuations.

I didn't go through the whole thread but didn't see a link to what I think Garychef1 is refering to so here is the link. I belive it to be the same he is talking about.

And as far as what goby to put in there my vote is for a Panda Goby there really cool but a bit pricey around $30. But hey with one fish make it a great one.

Why did you bring this thread back up agian? And you are really lucky to get a maroon in a 3 gallon, and its only 3 inches long and its probably over 3 years old....
