BY NIP I MEAN, DANGEROUSLY NIP, DOING DAMAGE. NOT OCCASIONALLY. (Forgot to add this info in poll)
I was wondering what other people luck has been w/ Flames in a reef tank. I want one, but trying to weight the risks.
Sorry so many options but want to really know what I'm dealing with.
Feel free to share your experiences.
Thanks!!

i dont see any poll? i hv one in my reef. awesome fish and very shy. last fishto be added? not sure about that. i hv added a few fish after the flame, and my flame has shown no aggression at all. flame angel does hv a tendency to nip at everything. but as long as it doesnt constantly nip at the same thing, then its fine imo.

It took me a minute to get the poll up, sorry ( i had to order pizza). I think he may have meant last fish in asmaller tank, like mine (46gal). I do intend on adding it last, IF
I get one.
Yea, I don't mind the occassional nip, it's when it does some damage that worries me.
Your clam is HUGE!!

i have one in a 125DT and he's not a bother. i wont say he doesnt take his jabs when cruising by. but he flies in and out of rock all day to really pay attention to the coral....

I heard that they will most likely go after clams, is that so?
get a small one to begin with, so u can train it. big angels might hv acquired a taste for clams already. i got my flame from this web site, and requested for the smallest individual.

I'm going to make large purchase (large for me at least), and I wanted to get my flame from here but I was worried that it would nip at corals right away and I would be stuck w/ it. That's why I'm going to go to the LFS and work something out so I can bring it back. Were you not worried about being stuck w/ a fish that ate your corals and since you bought it online you couldnt return it?

IME they're gonna nip or they're not. Train it how?
Yea, that was my question, how could you possilby train it?

maybe training it is the wrong term. small young angels tend not to hv acquired a taste for certain things yet such as corals or clams. by purchasing a young angel, u can teach it to eat prepared food u r going to give it.

Bump...
I added all the fish I planned on adding before my Angel. Now I just have to pull the trigger.
I have a few more corals and a CLAM!! Finally.
All is doing well, I just hope the flame won't change that.
Anyone else have any input?

So as of now...
67% chance I won't have a problem
33% chance I will
Most ppl say it's 50/50, but after reading a lot of posts and this poll, it really look like the odds are in your favor if anyone decides to attempt this.
