just to let u know, even this website uses copper in their water. Most places do. it doesnt kill the flame angel if it is only in it for a short period of time.

I live on long island as well and I wasn't inpressed with county reef at all. With all those tanks and water volume I expected alot more than I saw. If I do use a LFS I prefer Petstop in Huntigton they seem to have very healty fish. I never visited country critters, but I heard they are good.

Where is Country Reef?
Country Critters has a great setup and some gorgeous fish and reef tanks but they are insanely expensive! I've got a friend that used to work there and even when he bought stuff for my using his discount they were still more expensive than the other shops around.

Pet Stop is on Jerico in Huntington. It is a little west of Selmers right after you pass 110. I live in East Northport and I make in there in 20 minutes. Where is Pets Warehouse?

It is cool to hear from other Long Islanders where they go.
To answer drea's orignal question, I have not been successful at getting a flame angel to live more than a few days.
I don't understand why because other fish purchased from the same places are doing well and it is strange that 3 out of 3 flame fish have died in my tank.
As far as places to go I try to visit as many as possible, here is a list of some of the places I am aware of:
Petwarehouse - like everyone said, nice selection, nice staff and has good prices
Suffolk county reef & fish- Could use more fish but still decent selection, I find their fish are in good health, the guys that run it are really nice and very helpful and their prices are good
Tropical paradise - great selection- decent prices
Aquarium adventure - place looks huge but selection is not as big as it looks though they seem to carry some cool fish. Their prices are ok only if you join their club and get the discount
Country Critters - has a great selection of beautiful fish though their prices are on the higher side
Pet Stop - call me crazy but the few times I've been there they have very very few saltwater fish though that guy John who works there is awesome and really knows his stuff
Mega pet(I think thats the name of the store in Plainview) -Good selection, good prices, tough to park

Just to add to your post, John is the reason I use Pet Stop. He is awesome. He will tell you if something is not good before he sells it to you. I trust him to the fullest. If I had a problem with flame angels like you have I would try him. He will make sure the guy is healty before selling it to you. Or ask him and he will get you one that he is sure was captured the right way. I will visit these other places to see more selection.

It's Mega Pets that's in Plainview. They are right across the street from me. I've come to appreciate them more after visiting other stores. Only problem is they are so close and I'm always in that shopping center. I can't go grocery shopping without bringing something new home.
